Abstract

Kata kunci: miskonsepsi, daur air, bahasa ibu Abstract: Mother tongue existence in Indonesia was being forgotten, whereas it plays a part in learning. Twelve students, representing gender and three distinct achievement groups were interviewed, using the Interview About Instances in mother tongue to probing students’ misconception. Simple descriptive survey was conducted. Students appear to have misconceptions about state changes of water cycle in all concept, primarily in condensation. In fact, interviews reveal that students tend to view water cycle as confined to freezing and melting. Besides that, there are differences of students’ misconception according gender and achievement groups. Developing the Interview About Instances instrument that will support more to each interviewees’ cultural identity especially for students in basic education age range is suggested. Keywords: misconception, water cycle, mother tongue

Abstract

Science and religion are often regarded as distinct domains, yet they can complement each other in understanding the universe. This study aims to describe students’ understanding of physical science concepts in the kauniyah verses of the Qur’an. A descriptive method with a qualitative approach was used. A total of ten physics education students were selected as participants using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed thematically. The findings reveal that most students could relate kauniyah verses to physical concepts such as Earth's rotation, time relativity, tectonic plates movement, and light. However, variations in understanding were found, with some students emphasizing religious aspects without deep scientific reasoning. These results highlight the importance of integrating science and Islamic values in learning to strengthen students’ conceptual understanding. Keywords: kauniyah verses, physical phenomena, Islam-science integration

Abstract

The strengthening of science concepts in the Merdeka Curriculum requires a strong linkage between theoretical understanding and authentic application, particularly to develop soft skills relevant to the 21st-century workforce. However, physics learning in senior high schools still tends to emphasize cognitive aspects and provides limited practical exposure. This study aims to bridge this gap by integrating physics learning with competencies from the Motorcycle Engineering and Business (TBSM) program through a project-based co-curricular activity titled “Energy Efficiency and Workshop Service Innovation” at SMAN 2 Sandai. Employing a descriptive-qualitative method, data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, document analysis, triangulation, and member checking. The findings indicate differentiated soft-skill development among 26 participating students: three students reached Level 4, showing strong diagnostic abilities, data-based reasoning, scientific communication, and leadership; students at Level 3 demonstrated adequate mastery of concepts but inconsistencies in decision-making; while those at Levels 2–1 required further improvement in work discipline and entrepreneurial orientation. Overall, the study concludes that contextual project-based experiences effectively strengthen the connection between physics concepts and technical competencies while fostering students’ professional character development.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop and evaluate a Multi-Sensor and Internet of Things (IoT)-Based Base quantities Practicum Module for Physics Education Students. The study employed a Research and Development method using the ADDIE model. The module integrates multiple sensors with an ESP32 to support real-time data acquisition and visualization. The participants included two subject-matter experts, two media experts, two practitioners, and seven Physics Education students at STKIP Tanjungpura. Data were collected using validation sheets, questionnaires, pre-tests, and post-tests. The results showed that the material and media validity scores reached 91.25% and 90.63%, respectively, both categorized as highly valid. The module obtained a practicality score of 91.25%, while student responses reached 90.53%. The students’ mean score increased from 43.71 to 84.00, with an N-Gain score of 0.717 in the high category. The module was rated highly valid and practical. In a limited trial involving seven students, pre-test and post-test scores showed improved conceptual learning outcomes; further testing is needed to establish its effectiveness across broader settings.
