Abstract

The development of technology and information has now gone digital with the emergence of the meta-world or metaverse. Libraries as evolving organisms need to adapt to keep up with the times and meet the needs of their patrons. This study aims to determine the extent to which research related to metaverse libraries has been carried out and how libraries can answer the challenges of digital technology developments related to metaverse technology. The method used in this research is a Systematic Literature Review using the Publish or Perish and Vos Viewer applications with the period publication analysis from the years 2014-2023. The results showed that articles related to the metaverse library are still very limited when compared to articles that discuss the metaverse itself. On the other hand, libraries are expected to continue to develop with the concept of Metaverse Library with consideration as a form of innovation to improve immersive learning, accessibility, information preservation, and collaboration globally.

Abstract

Labelling books is one of the technical activities in the processing section of the library. This research is an initial study of the need to provide tools for labelling books, so as to provide convenience in the technical process of pairing bibliographic information in one book. The survey method was conducted on 21 librarians working in school libraries in West Java province. The results obtained were that every school librarian already had technical competence in processing library materials, and stated that they needed tools for the process of placing book labels. The librarians state that labelling is one of the library management activities to make the align collections or shelving easier for librarians so that collections can be accessible to library users. It is also beneficial for shelf reading to check if a library collection is improperly shelved and effectively locate missing or stolen books In addition to accessibility and shelf reading purposes, spine labels also give a sense of tidiness in the library because they are aligned and have the same size label used.

Abstract

Academic library have a significant role in realizing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, especially in the fields of education and research. As a center of information resources, competent librarians are needed, especially in writing scientific papers, which are one of the results of education and training activities. The actions is needed to support the development of science and library services as a research library. However, the interest in writing scientific papers among librarians is still very low, so they must be motivated to produce scientific papers, one of which is through the Libmodo platform. This study aims to determine how to optimize the Libmodo training platform to improve librarians' scientific writing competencies. Using a quantitative approach with descriptive methods and pre-experimental design, data were collected through questionnaires distributed to librarians. The results showed a significant increase in librarian knowledge after participating in the training, which was measured through pretests and posttests. This increase indicates that independent learning using modules on the Libmodo platform is efficacious in improving librarians' scientific writing knowledge and skills.
