Abstract

Introduction: Parenting during infancy and toddlerhood plays a crucial role in shaping children's physical, social, and intellectual development, with effective parenting during these early years having long-lasting effects on a child’s health and independence. Cultural values and family traditions influence parenting practices, and educational media, such as videos, can improve perceptions and behaviors by engaging audiences and providing relevant, contextual information. Objective: This study aims to determine the influence of health education through video media on the perception of mothers with infants under five about parenting patterns in the Sundanese ethnicity in Cikunir Village. Method: This quantitative study employs a quasi-experimental design to assess the impact of video-based health education on mothers' perceptions of toddler parenting. The population consists of mothers with children aged 0-60 months in Cikunir Village, with purposive sampling used to select 57 participants. Data were presented in tables, and descriptive and analytical analysis was performed using pre-test and post-test questionnaires. Result: Statistical analysis revealed a significant effect of health education on mothers' perceptions, with a p-value of 0.000, indicating a statistically significant result (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Health education through video media significantly influences mothers' perceptions of parenting patterns in the Sundanese ethnic group. Early intervention in child growth and stunting prevention is essential for promoting age-appropriate development in infants.

Abstract

Objective: The purpose of this Community Service Program is to determine the increase in positive perceptions in mothers of toddlers through culture-based health education activities at the stunting locus in Singaparna District in 2024. Method: The type of research used is quantitative with a pre-experimental design method, specifically one-group-pretest-posttest design, all to assess the impact of video-based health education on mothers' perceptions in caring for toddlers. The population is mothers who have children aged 0-60 months in Cikunir Village, with purposive sampling of 57 participants. The data is presented in the form of tables, and descriptive and analytical analysis is carried out using pre-test and post-test questionnaires. The method of implementing this Community Service activity is to use health education through digital pocket book media. Result: Statistical analysis shows a significant influence between health education on mothers' perceptions, that the average value before being given education was 11.82 with the lowest value being 7 and the highest being 15. While the average value after being given health education was 13.87 with the lowest value being 10 and the highest being 15. Health education can improve the perception of mothers of toddlers about parenting patterns that prevent the risk of stunting. Conclusion: Health education using digital pocket books has a significant effect on mothers' perceptions of parenting patterns in the Sundanese tribe. Early intervention in child growth and prevention of stunting is very important to encourage infant development according to their age.

Abstract

The digital transformation in healthcare has driven the emergence of mHealth applications as strategic innovations that bridge the gap between the limitations of conventional service methods and the demands of modern healthcare delivery. However, the effectiveness of mHealth applications largely depends on how users perceive their usability, their role in enhancing communication, and their contribution to improving healthcare services. This study aims to analyze user perceptions of mHealth applications with a focus on three key dimensions: usability, communication enhancement, and healthcare service improvement. A quantitative approach with a cross-sectional survey design was employed, involving 200 participants from Indonesia and the Philippines selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected via an online questionnaire consisting of 15 items and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The findings reveal that, as perceived by mHealth users, usability exerts a significant effect on communication, and communication acts as a strong predictor of healthcare service improvement. Furthermore, increased usability is consistently predicted to enhance communication effectiveness and healthcare quality, whereas reduced usability may potentially diminish both. In conclusion, as perceived by users, mHealth applications have demonstrated clear advantages over conventional service methods in terms of efficiency, accessibility, and continuity of care. This study contributes by integrating usability, communication, and healthcare service improvement into digital health technology adoption literature, while also offering practical guidance for developers and policymakers in creating more efficient, user-friendly, and sustainable healthcare systems based on user perceptions.
