Abstract

Entrepreneurship success has become a deep concern among government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and other related bodies, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic. The companies that were greatly affected during the pandemic were small and medium enterprises. These firms are considered fragile to drastic changes since they have limited resources to adapt to the changing business environment. Among the factors that affect the firm’s performance is entrepreneur competencies. The current study is undertaken to investigate the influence of entrepreneur competencies comprising social and personal competencies on firm performance. 152 responses were collected via social media platforms from SME entrepreneurs and analyzed using factor analysis and multiple regression analysis. The findings indicate that only strategic planning and flexibility significantly predict SME firm performance. Entrepreneurs must be equipped with these required competencies to set the correct direction for their firms, allocate sufficient resources, and be flexible to adjust the existing strategic plans to improve their performance.

Abstract

This study analyzes the influence of resilience, job embeddedness, and workload on employee performance. Employing a quantitative approach with an explanatory design, primary data was collected through questionnaires from 60 permanent employees. Data analysis involved instrument quality tests (validity and reliability) and classical assumption tests (normality, multicollinearity, heteroscedasticity), followed by multiple linear regression analysis. The findings indicate that resilience, job embeddedness, and workload, both partially and simultaneously, have a positive and significant effect on employee performance. The constructed regression model explains 61.6% of the variation in employee performance. These findings underscore that developing psychological resilience, strengthening employee attachment to their jobs and the organization, and effectively managing workload are crucial factors in enhancing productivity and achieving company objectives in the construction sector.

Abstract

Organizational change is a common occurrence in today's dynamic business environment, and employee commitment plays a crucial role in its successful implementation. However, the factors influencing employee commitment and the role of past change experience in this process are underexplored in the context of Malaysian Government-Linked Investment Companies (GLICs). This paper aims to propose a conceptual framework for the moderating effects of past change experience on the relationship between change related self-efficacy on employee commitment towards organizational change in Malaysian GLICs. This paper employs a qualitative approach by reviewing all pertinent literature on the subject from various databases and relating it to the current environment, which attempts to bring the entire concept of organizational change into focus based on the findings of previous research and a proposed conceptual framework that can be used for future research. This research will contribute to the existing body of knowledge by providing a thorough comprehension of the factors of change related to self-efficacy influencing employee commitment towards organizational change. The findings will have practical implications for GLIC leaders and change managers, providing insights on how to effectively engage employees during periods of change, increase their commitment, and ultimately increase the success of organisational change initiatives.
