Abstract

Keywords: Cloud, E-government, Tantangan E-government.

Abstract

Illocutionary acts are a key category of speech acts, frequently analyzed in pragmatic studies to investigate the conveyed meaning of a speaker’s words. These acts are particularly intriguing because of their significant impact on the interpretation of utterances. This study aims to conduct an in-depth examination of the various classifications of illocutionary acts employed in spoken discourse, focusing on a speech delivered by a world leader. Specifically, the analysis draws on Vladimir Putin’s 2024 election victory speech, meticulously studied through qualitative analytical methods. The research employed Searle’s framework to categorize and interpret the speech’s illocutionary acts. The analysis identifies five distinct classifications: assertive (or representatives), commissive, expressive, directive, and declarative. The findings highlight a dominance of assertive/representatives with 20 instances, followed by expressive acts with 10 instances, commissive acts with 5 instances, and a single instance, each of directives and declaratives. This comprehensive analysis sheds light on the intricate linguistic strategies employed in the speech, demonstrating how illocutionary acts contribute to meaning-making and rhetorical effectiveness. The study offers insightful information about how these activities are applied in contemporary political discourse, enriching our understanding of the interplay between language, intent, and influence.

Abstract

Deixis, a fundamental linguistic concept, refers to expressions whose meanings depend on context, including personal pronouns, temporal markers, spatial indicators, and demonstratives. While deixis has been widely studied in conversational and literary discourse, its role in song lyrics remains underexplored, particularly in shaping emotional resonance and thematic depth. This study addresses this gap by analyzing the use of deixis in Die with a Smile by Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga, focusing on how deictic expressions contribute to narrative construction and listener engagement. Employing a qualitative approach, the study identifies and categorizes deictic expressions in the lyrics, revealing that personal deixis is the most dominant (64.20%), followed by spatial deixis (18.52%), temporal deixis (13.58%), and demonstrative deixis (3.70%). Personal deixis fosters intimacy and relatability, while spatial and temporal deixis situate the narrative within emotional and situational contexts. Demonstrative deixis reinforces shared references and directs the listener’s focus. These deictic elements effectively convey themes of love, longing, and transcendence, demonstrating the intricate relationship between language, meaning, and audience perception in contemporary music. This study contributes to linguistic and musical analysis by highlighting the interplay between deixis and emotional expression in song lyrics.

Abstract

In an increasingly globalized world, multilingualism has become a key feature of contemporary popular music. This research investigates the structural forms and communicative functions of language alternation in Despacito (Remix)—a globally successful pop song blending Spanish and English. Drawing on Poplack’s typology of code-switching, Hoffman’s functional motivations, and Muysken’s classifications of code-mixing, the study examines how language alternation shapes the song’s narrative structure, emotional expression, and international appeal. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, this research conducts a close analysis of the song’s lyrics—particularly Justin Bieber’s bilingual performance—revealing the prominent use of switching within sentences and between sentences, alongside instances of insertional mixing. The findings indicate that language alternation is not merely stylistic choices, but strategic tools to enhance expressiveness, foster cultural hybridity, and expand global reach. In comparison with previous studies on code-switching in Indonesian digital and literary contexts, this paper highlights how popular music represents a distinct and underexplored domain where linguistic creativity intersects with market-driven aesthetics. Ultimately, the study underscores the role of language alternation as a powerful mechanism for shaping narratives, constructing identities, and engaging diverse audiences in global entertainment media.

Abstract

Education plays a crucial role in shaping societal values and challenging structural inequalities. This paper explores how literature, particularly Shirley Jackson’s “The Lottery,” can be used as a tool to critically examine oppressive social norms within educational contexts. By applying Marxist and hyperrealist theories, the study analyzes how ritualistic violence in “The Lottery” mirrors real-world mechanisms of social control that sustain inequality. The paper argues that integrating literature into social sciences education can transform traditional learning approaches by encouraging students to question inherited norms and develop critical consciousness. This interdisciplinary approach aligns with SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), advocating for education that empowers learners to actively engage in social transformation. The findings suggest that a literature-based pedagogy in social sciences can drive a deeper understanding of systemic issues and contribute to a more just and sustainable society. The study further emphasizes the need for an interdisciplinary teaching approach where literature is used to foster critical thinking and inspire active participation in social change, supporting the realization of sustainable development goals.

Abstract

This study explores gender dynamics and emotional manipulation in Shawn Mendes’ song Treat You Better through the lens of feminist theory and Baudrillard’s concept of hyperreality. The lyrics center on a male persona who asserts that he can treat a woman better than her current partner. While this narrative appears empathetic and caring, it subtly conveys a form of benevolent coercion, in which the man positions himself as morally superior and thus more deserving of the woman’s affection. This analysis employs qualitative textual methods to examine the linguistic structure and implicit meanings embedded in the song’s lyrics. The findings reveal that expressions of concern are often framed as emotional domination, cloaked in seemingly affectionate language. Baudrillard’s hyperreality theory is used to illustrate how media representations of romantic love contribute to distorted ideals of relationships, obscuring the boundary between genuine care and controlling behavior. The study concludes that popular media, including songs like Treat You Better, may perpetuate patriarchal norms and emotional manipulation under the guise of romantic concern. By critically examining such portrayals, this research underscores the importance of media literacy and gender awareness. It reinforces global efforts toward achieving SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 4 (Quality Education).
