Abstract

The grate cooler is one of the important tools in the cement-making process because apart from cooling the clinker to obtain the appropriate clinker quality, the garage cooler also serves to provide hot air for burning coal in the clinker and calciner as well as hot air for drying raw materials and coal. Grate coolers have functions that other types of coolers do not have, namely Planetary Coolers and Rotary Coolers. Therefore it is necessary to know the properties of the Grate Cooler so that it can be operated optimally in supporting the clinical performance of the system. In the clinker cooling process in the Grate Cooler, the quenching process usually occurs at a distance of the first 5 meters. In this quenching process, the need for cooling air for grate expansion is higher compared to other cooling processes. The quenching process which causes a rapid decrease in clinker temperature has an impact on the availability of air at very high temperatures between 1200oC-1400oC. This high temperature air must be used properly to be useful for the combustion process in Kilns and Kalsiner.

Abstract

The establishment of Komunitas Tolam Sehat (KOTOS) in Kuala Tolam Village is a community empowerment initiative that aims to improve health and environmental quality through a participatory approach. This article explores the process of community formation, the strategies used in community empowerment, as well as its impact on the health and environment of the village. Through a participatory approach, the community successfully engaged various elements of the community, including the village government, community leaders, and local residents, in designing and implementing health and environmental programs. The results show that this approach not only increases community awareness about the importance of health and environmental hygiene, but also strengthens social solidarity and community capacity to manage health issues independently and sustainably. This article highlights the importance of community empowerment in creating sustainable positive change at the local level.

Abstract

The low level of reading literacy among elementary school students in Indonesia remains a fundamental challenge in education, particularly with the implementation of the thematic curriculum that requires the integration of various basic competencies. This study aims to identify the strategic role of teachers, effective implementation strategies, and the challenges encountered in integrating literacy into thematic learning. A qualitative literature review method was employed by analyzing ten relevant national journal articles. The findings indicate that teachers play a pivotal role as facilitators, innovators, and designers of learning experiences. Effective integration strategies include the use of the webbed-type integrated learning model, utilization of creative media, and the implementation of literacy-based projects. However, several challenges were identified, such as limited instructional time, lack of methodological variation, and difficulties in aligning literacy content with thematic materials. It is concluded that the success of literacy integration in thematic learning heavily depends on the active and creative role of teachers, which must be supported by a collaborative and sustainable educational ecosystem.
