Abstract

This article aims at examining forms and characteristics of Turkish nationalism under Erdoganism, a relatively new term which has been devoted to leadership of Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The notion of nationalism has not been the main focus on the full range of the political rhetoric and the social interactions demonstrated by Erdogan. However, generally considered as a fundamental element in Turkey's social and political development, nationalism always remains a hot topic which cannot be separated from social dynamics and society itself. For this reason, nationalism will endlessly continue to look for a dynamic form and, at the same time, becomes an instrument of the ruling to control the distribution of power. Erdoganism itself has various distinct approaches towards the narrative and development of Turkish nationalism. This research used a qualitative approach with discourse analysis method by elaborating symbols, languages, writings, and speeches demonstrated by Erdogan in the political activities. The findings of this research are expected to be able to comprehend nationalism of Erdoganism.

The social dynamics occurring within an organization can reflect many things such as balance, integration, conflict, and even the pattern and form of the organization itself. This article discusses the social processes and interactions that emerge in the student organization of the Muhammadiyah Student Association (IPM) of the Special Region of Yogyakarta in dealing with internal and external challenges and dynamics to build balance. These things are important as a learning process for students and to integrate mutual support among students and its member. Using a qualitative approach, this article researched the subject of the IPM at the Regional level with informants consisting of administrators. The article found two important things related to the pattern and form of social processes carried out by internal actors of the organization, such as (1) the role of actors who can understand the internal and external situations of the organization so that they can understand the dynamics of the organization; and (2) the intensity of communication and meetings is a fantastic way to maintain the internal IPM’s system so that it can be maintained to solve challenges and problems within internal organization. These two things are strengthened by the process of adaptation and integration that are approached formally and informally in the social process in IPM.

Abstract

This article analyzes how young women smokers defend themselves and perpetuate their smoking activity in an environment that rejects it through discursive understanding as the basis for their actions. In addition, this study discusses how women smoke and take into account smoking activity, social aspects, and physical aspects around it. The theoretical approach used is the agency theory of Anthony Giddens which deeply considers the aspects of managed reflexivity. Abstract

The phenomenon of quiet quitting has been recognized as a growing trend in the workplace, particularly among recent graduates post-COVID-19 pandemic. It reflects a deliberate strategy by young workers to resist excessive workloads and address organizational neglect of work-life balance. This study employs a qualitative approach, focusing on five informants who are recent university graduates working in Yogyakarta's informal sector. In-depth interviews were conducted to understand their experiences and strategies in practicing quiet quitting. The findings reveal that quiet quitting emerges as a coping mechanism against exploitative work demands, involving strategies such as rejecting additional tasks outside working hours, clearly separating work from personal life, and negotiating a balance between professional obligations and personal well-being. These practices indicate resistance to exploitative workplace norms and highlight a broader effort to establish sustainable work-life dynamics. The study underscores quiet quitting as a covert resistance strategy that is intricately tied to maintaining well-being and balance.
