Abstract

This research uses Ferdinand de Saussure's semiotic approach to analyze the meaning in the lyrics of the song "Lelak Loce Renda" in the context of Manggarai culture. Descriptive qualitative method was used to translate the song lyrics into Indonesian and English, and to analyze the song lyrics with a personal view. The results of the analysis show that this song contains messages about determination to achieve goals, hard work, advice from parents, and diligent prayer and hope in God. The lyrics reflect a deep meaning and are full of motivational messages, and encourage young people to have strong determination, work hard, and pray in achieving their goals. This research is important to provide a deeper understanding of the meaning of the song "Lelak Loce Renda" and can help in preserving Manggarai folk songs and Manggarai musical traditions

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of price, design and product quality on consumer purchasing decisions at St. Damian Cancar wood working shop partially and simultaneously. The population of this research is all the consumers of St. Damian Cancar wood working shop, with a total of 34 respondents who are used as research objects. The data were collected through questionnaires distributed to respondents and then analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis and multiple linear regression analysis with the help of the SPSS version 26 program. The results of this study state that partially the price has a positive and significant effect on purchasing decisions, product design has a positive and significant effect on purchasing decisions, product quality has a positive and significant effect on consumer purchasing decisions at St. Damian Cancar wood working shop. Simultaneously, price, design and product quality have a positive and significant effect on consumer purchasing decisions at St. Damian Cancar wood working shop.

Abstract

The study was intended to analyze grammatical problem and generic structures of narrative text written by the eleventh grade students of Language program at SMAK St. Klaus–West Flores in the academic year 2016/2017. The data were mainly collected through assigment on narrative written text and itervies and were analyzed descriptively using Dulay’lingistics taxonomy (1982) and Fink’ category (2005). The result of data analysis revealed that the students committed errors in their narrrative writing, namely article, possessive case, omission of – ed, regularization by adding –ed, simple present tense used in place of simple past tense, omission of –be, pluralization, pronoun, preposition, omission of main verb, subject verb agreement, word order, diction, spelling, passive form, adverb, conjunction, double marking, and modals. The cause of error was interference, lack of vocabularies, and motivation, and teacher’ ability/qualification.
