Abstract

Tannin is a compound from the results of secondary plant metabolites. The use of tannins in the field of research is increasingly interesting to be developed. The effect of tannin extraction method is very influential on the levels of tannin produced. The method often used is the maceration method, this is because this method is simpler and easier. Factors that determine the high yield of tannins produced after maceration extraction are temperature, time, and type of solvent used. The longer the temperature and time also do not determine the high yield produced, on the contrary the resulting tannin levels will be low. Low solvent concentration also will not produce high tannin yield Keywords: tannin, temperature, time, solvent concentration

Abstract

The process of making domestic chicken egg white flour can be done by drying using an oven at 105 0C. To avoid the Maillard reaction, fermentation was carried out with Rhizopus sp. first. In this study, Rhizopus sp. concentrations of 0.2 %, 0.4 %, 0.6 %, 0.8 % and fermentation times of 6 hours, 12 hours and 24 hours were used. The aim of the research was to analyze the effect of the concentration of Rhizopus sp. yeast and the length of fermentation time on the characteristics of the egg white flour produced. The results showed that the concentration of Rhizopus sp. yeast and the length of fermentation time had an effect on the yield of egg white flour (P<0.05). The highest yield was obtained from using a concentration of 0.8 % and a fermentation time of 24 hours, namely 14.40 %. The lowest water content value was obtained from using a concentration of 0.2 % and a fermentation time of 6 hours, namely 5.66 %. The highest brightness test value was at a concentration of 0.8 % and a fermentation time of 24 hours, namely 63.4 %..

Abstract

Abstract

Pine trees that are still productive will produce sap, pine resin is one of the non-timber forest products commodities that is quite potential and Indonesia has the 3rd largest production in the worldThis study aims to determine the productivity of pine resin and aspects that meet standard operating procedure criteria for pine trees (Pinus merkusii) in the Nagari Simarasok forest area, Baso District, Agam Regency, West Sumatra Province. The data collected was in the form of primary data and data collection was carried out by observation, measurement, line transect, sample plots (plots), and literature study and then analyzed using quantitative descriptive and qualitative descriptive methods. The results showed that the diameter of the tapped pine in the Nagari Simarasok forest, Baso District, Agam Regency, West Sumatra Province varied between 32–83 cm with an average diameter of 62.84 cm with pine resin productivity per tree ranging from 90–266 grams/tree per day with the average pine resin is 194.72 grams/tree per day. The productivity of pine resin per type is between 29.9–45 grams/typing per day with an average pine resin of 32.87 grams/typing per day. The results of data collection regarding standard operating procedures on pine trees were 13 out of 144 pine trees that did not meet the criteria, where 1 stem had a depth Keywords: Resin, Productivity, Nagariforest, SOP

Abstract

Eucalyptus oil is a type of essential oil that is widely used as an ingredient in various health or pharmaceutical products, making eucalyptus oil a product that is much sought after. The need for eucalyptus oil is currently increasing with the development of variations in the use of eucalyptus oil. This study aims to determine the economic valuation of eucalyptus trees (Melaleuca leucadendron) on the economy in Tanjung Bonai Aur, Sumpur Kudus District, Sijunjung Regency. The methods used in this research are observation, interview and respondent methods. The analysis used in this research is descriptive analysis and quantitative analysis. Based on direct observation there are 100 eucalyptus trees in the Tanjung Bonai Aur LPHN area. This study used an interview method involving 25 respondents consisting of 16 male respondents and 9 female respondents. Based on data analysis to determine the Total Economic Value (NET) consisting of direct use value in the form of essential oil utilization, indirect use value in the form of erosion control, and inheritance value in the form of eucalyptus distillation equipment consisting of 1 boiler with 2 reactor units. Then the Total Economic Value (NET) obtained is Rp. 66,506,294 which consists of: direct use value of RP. 28,080,000/year, indirect use value of RP. 20,426,294/year, and inheritance value of RP. 18,000,000/year. Keywords: Economic Valuation, Eucalyptus, LPHN.

Abstract

Dry gambier extract obtained from gambier plants contains tannins at relatively low levels. Tannins can be obtained by extracting dry gambier using water to achieve high yields within a relatively short processing time. This study aims to analyze the interaction between extraction time and microwave power in the tannin extraction process from gambier using the microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) method to maximize tannin yield.  The research method employed was a factorial design (AxB). Factor A was extraction time, consisting of five treatments (1; 2; 3; 4; and 5 minutes) and factor B was microwave power, consisting of five variations (180W; 300W; 450W; 600W and 850W). The results showed that the gambier extraction process using MAE demonstrated an interaction between extraction time and microwave power on the yield produced, but not on the tannin content. The most optimal temperature and power that can be used is 4 minutes at 600W microwave power with a yield of 44.66%. The treatment of temperature and microwave power in the gambier extraction process showed a significant interaction with the extract yield.
