Abstract

Fractions are part of mathematical material that is difficult for elementary school teachers to teach which results in students not being able to solve problems related to the concept and arithmetic operation of fractions. The aim of this study is to improve the learning outcomes and the activeness of students in computing the addition and subtraction of fractions using folding paper. This research is a class action research using the design of Kemmis & McTaggart. The subjects of this study included students in Grade V of three elementary schools, with a total of 170 research subjects. The data were collected by using test and observation techniques. The test instrument used was eight items in the form of descriptions to measure mathematics learning outcomes, while observations were made by the observer using observation sheets to measure student activity in learning using folding paper. The data analysis technique used is quantitative descriptive technique with a minimum of 85% classical completeness criteria with a score of 75 for learning outcomes and the activeness of students at least in the active category. Based on the implementation of two-cycle learning, the results show that the learning outcomes of students have improved from cycle I to cycle II, with criteria for completeness exceeding the permitted requirements. Similar to the student activeness data increased from the fairly active category in the first cycle to the very active category in the second cycle. Thus it can be said that the use of folding paper can enhance the students' activeness and learning outcomes in the computation of the addition and subtraction of fractions. So it is suggested that teachers as innovators have the awareness to innovate in material knowledge content and use teaching aids in learning.

Abstract

Computer-based Mathematics Learning (CBML) has become global in the last decade, providing opportunities for more significant interaction between schools and their environment. Although CBML has been widely applied, few studies highlight its growth trajectory, especially high-quality studies and those in the Scopus document. This study identifies CBML-related research that can provide a global perspective on learning and the development of the further investigation. Therefore, a bibliometric analysis was conducted to identify 651 journal articles between 2010 and 2023 using the Scopus database. Data search uses the publish or perish application, and the VOS viewer program assists in analyzing theme linkages. This research addresses two issues: (i) reviewing the growth trajectory of CBML-related studies; and (ii) mapping between themes to identify gaps and the most important topics. The analysis results show that the study's trajectory appears fluid and is mediated by the impact of social restrictions due to Covid-19. The main topics and research gaps are discussed. Several implications are presented as helpful information for scientists and stakeholders.

Abstract

Cabri is characterized by an attractive advantage and provides wide-ranging benefits in the teaching of mathematics. Although today there have been many studies on the edges of Cabri, experiments on Cabri-Express have not been widely explored. For this reason, a quasi-experimental study with a randomized posttest only design involving 80 grade VII junior high school students in Ruteng, Indonesia, was conducted to analyze the effect of Cabri-Express in learning geometry on students' overall mathematical communication ability (MCA) and based on students' initial mathematical abilities. The results of the MCA test are the research data, which consists of 5 questions that are then analyzed by t-test and preceded by conducting an analysis prerequisite test. The Hedges equation describes how much influence the Cabri-Express model has on students' MCA. The results showed that the overall MCA of students who were taught using the help of an Cabri-Express was better than students who were taught using the conventional model. From the Hedges equation, an effect size of 1.23 is obtained, indicating that the use of Cabri-Expresses strongly affects students' MCA. These results interpret that students who are ranked 13th in the experimental class are equivalent to those who are ranked 5th in the control class. By clarifying the effect of Cabri-Express on students' MCA, this study recommends the need to use Cabri-Express in mathematics classes. The analysis results can also help researchers explore other material in a relatable context.

Abstract

Abstrak: Bukti menunjukkan bahwa variabel kognitif sosial seperti pengetahuan, minat, dan niat memainkan peran penting apakah guru memilih untuk mengintegrasikan teknologi ke dalam praktik pembelajaran mereka. Pengetahuan dan minat memiliki dampak pada niat mereka untuk menggunakan teknologi pendidikan. Dengan demikian maka diperlukan pendampingan kepada para guru dalam menerapkan fase TPACK dari berkesimpung sampai pada terbiasa menerapkannya dalam pembelajaran. Musawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran (MGMP) SARAYA merupakan salah satu kelompok guru di Kecamatan Satarmese Kabupaten Manggarai NTT yang menyadari peran dan manfaat teknologi tetapi tidak memiliki pengetahuan yang memadai untuk menggunakannya di dalam kelas. Pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran yang akan dioperasikan melalui perangkat seluer dinilai sesuai dengan kondisi para guru. Untuk alasan tersebut maka kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini akan mengajak guru-guru yang tergabung MGMP SARAYA untuk mengembangkan media pembelajaran berbasis augmented reality. Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut maka PKM ini focus pada workshop pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran berbasis augmented reality. Perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan menggunakan konteks kearifan local atau yang disebut etnomatematika sebagai costume marker atau penanda. Produk fisik yang dihasilkan diharapkan bisa meningkatkan minat siswa dalam belajar matematika dan pada akhirnya akan meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran. Dari hasil analisis respon para guru ditemukan bahwa proyeksi perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan dapat digunakan oleh guru sangat tinggi (92%), dan berpotensi meningkatkan perhatian dan minat siswa dalam belajar matematika.Abstract: Evidence suggests that social cognitive variables such as knowledge, interest, and intention play an important role in whether teachers choose Evidence suggests that social cognitive variables such as knowledge, interest, and intention play an important role in whether teachers choose to integrate technology into their instructional practices. Knowledge and interests have an impact on their intention to use educational technology. Thus, assistance is needed for teachers in implementing the TPACK phase, from getting involved to getting used to applying it in learning. SARAYA Subject Teacher Discussion (MGMP) is a group of teachers in Satarmese District, Manggarai Regency, NTT, who know the role and benefits of technology but do not have sufficient knowledge to use it in the classroom. The development of learning devices that will be operated via mobile devices is assessed according to the conditions of the teachers. For this reason, this community service activity will invite teachers who are members of MGMP SARAYA to develop augmented reality-based learning media. This activity will improve the balanced use of technology and didactic skills. This PKM focuses on workshops on developing augmented reality-based learning tools to achieve this goal. The learning tools developed use the context of local wisdom or what is called ethnomathematics as costume markers or markers. It is hoped that the resulting physical product can increase students' interest in learning mathematics and ultimately improve learning quality. From the results of the analysis of teachers' responses, it was found that the projection of the learning devices developed could be used by teachers very highly (92%), and had the potential to increase students' attention and interest in learning mathematics.
