Abstract

Abstract

One of the responsibilities of Muslims is to eat halal food. Halal has become a universal signal for ensuring the quality of products and living standards due to obedience and commitment. For Muslims, the availability of halal items is a crucial necessity. As a result, the government is now required to provide halal goods, particularly in nations where the majority population is Muslim. Product awareness affects consumer behavior when selecting items in addition to halal certification. For Muslims, it is essential to have the necessary knowledge while purchasing and consuming halal items. It is crucial since a number of non-Muslim sources in addition to Muslims provide halal-certified goods. The use of pharmaceutical ingredients generated from animals is a significant source of concern for certain customers who have religious or cultural restraints. The use of gene therapy must be adjusted to the type of disease to be treated. Diseases and their genetic relationships must be known first before gene therapy is carried out. If a gene related to a particular disease can be identified, the potential for the disease to be treated will be even greater. Similar with above statement mention that when developing halal pharmaceuticals, it is necessary to investigate alternative materials that meet halal standards while reducing the usage of essential chemicals, as well as several key principles that must be obeyed. As a therapeutic ingredient, everything is regulated by the US Food and Drug Administration regulations. (FDA.gov) The FDA regulates everything regarding cell and gene therapy, starting from safety testing of human cells, the use of animal material for cell and gene therapy purposes, donor eligibility regulations to testing donors of human cells. Regarding whether cell and gene therapy can be categorized as halal or not, it can be seen from whether all the procedures and equipment used have met the requirements in the halal certification process or not.

Abstract

Although Law No. 16 of 2019 stipulates a minimum marriage age of 19, marriage dispensation requests remain prevalent in Bekasi, highlighting a persistent gap between legal regulation and social practice. This study examines the judicial considerations underlying the granting of marriage dispensation in the Bekasi Religious Court, applying an empirical case study approach supported by literature review and document analysis. The principles of al-Maqashid al-Khamsah were employed to evaluate the judges’ reasoning. The findings reveal that the dispensation was granted primarily due to the close relationship between the petitioner and the respondent, alongside parental concerns regarding potential adverse consequences if the request was denied. The decision was legally grounded in Articles 8–10 of the Marriage Law and Articles 39–43 of the Compilation of Islamic Law, which permit marriage despite non-compliance with the statutory age requirement. However, such dispensations carry potential risks for marital stability, particularly in psychological, social, and economic domains. This study contributes to the discourse on judicial discretion by demonstrating how al-Maqashid al-Khamsah can serve as a normative framework for balancing legal, religious, and social considerations. It underscores the necessity for judges to weigh not only immediate familial concerns but also the long-term resilience of households, thereby ensuring that judicial decisions safeguard the welfare of couples and future generations.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) remains a significant public health problem in Indonesia. Sembayat Village, located in Manyar District, Gresik Regency, East Java, is one of 23 villages in the district. Currently, 1 active TB patient has been found in RT 22 RW 02. Seeing the densely populated situation, it is possible that the disease will spread if preventive measures are not taken immediately. Psychosocial assistance is also needed for patients and families considering that this disease requires relatively long treatment and must be completed. We divide this Community Service Activity into several stages of activity. The first stage is the preparation stage. Community service activities were carried out on Thursday, May 8, 2025, starting at 09.00 - 12.00. The activities carried out were counseling on TB (Definition, signs and symptoms, treatment, prevention), Healthy lifestyles to increase immunity, and good nutrition to stay healthy. In addition, there was a symbolic handover of the TB Guidebook for the Community and distribution of basic necessities to families of TB patients. On the evaluation stage, the community was very enthusiastic about asking questions, this proved that the community understood what was explained during the counseling.

Abstract

Poor drainage systems in densely populated areas contribute to increased humidity and the growth of pathogenic microorganisms, which indirectly affect the risk of TB infection. Stagnant water caused by clogged drainage channels can be a source of various infectious diseases, including respiratory infections. Furthermore, unhealthy environmental conditions can weaken the immune system, making people more susceptible to TB infection. In RT 22 RW 02, an investigation revealed that household wastewater disposal is still inadequate. The densely populated area means residents no longer have the space to build infiltration wells for their household wastewater. To dispose of household wastewater, residents channel wastewater into a puddle that lacks a secondary drainage system, resulting in wastewater accumulating there. As can be imagined, this puddle emits an unpleasant odor and can become a breeding ground for mosquitoes and pathogens, seriously threatening residents' health. Even when it rains, water from the puddle overflows onto the road, producing an unpleasant odor. The goal of this community service activity is to increase residents' understanding of healthy environmental sanitation, particularly regarding household wastewater disposal, and to work with residents to improve drainage for household waste disposal. During 3 months, from May-July 2025, the community services of a lecturer from Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Surabaya (Unusa), together with community self-help, we succeeded in building a 150-meter-long drainage system for disposing of household waste into the nearest river so that there is no more stagnant waste that produces an unpleasant odor.
