Abstract

In a sociological perspective, individuals are always in an ambivalent, duality, and inconsistent position. The pounding wave of globalization that triggered and spurred the spirit of modernization, has simultaneously positioned and even led individuals to the altar of dualism, namely deifying the side of modernity through a set of modern behavior but at the same time worshiping the essence of traditionalism by being reluctant to abandon its cultural and locality aspects. This behavior seems to confirm that between the past and the present time, of course, can be compromised, or more precisely it can be integrated in a format of life that is adaptive and flexible to both periods; traditional and modern.Tradition is the pinnacle of human intellectuality that was previously codified, constructed, implemented, and rooted through behavioral patterns to technology to support its collective life. The innovation that we know today in its more complex and sophisticated form is actually a reproduction of past traditions with a simple pattern.

Abstract

This study intends to explore the reality of religious conversion around the determinants of the background and the religious life of conversions after a religious conversion. This research is patterned with a phenomenological approach to reveal the subjective experience of conversion. The results showed that: The determinant factor behind the conversion to religious conversion was due to marriage. The conversion of religion that he did was not only due to the consequences of the constitutional mandate regarding the obligation to marry with the same conviction (Marriage Law No. 1 of 1974, Article 2), also because it was based on mutual feelings of mutual interest (same like). The religious life of subjects after religious conversion shows positive results in terms of dimensions; Convertible Islamic religious knowledge is increasingly increasing; The practice of converting Islamic religion in daily life is also increasing; The commitment to conversion to Islam is very strong, which is indicated by the more solid in Islam and the inclusion of several other family members in Islam through its influence.

Abstract

The main topic of this research is to discuss: 1) How is the resilience strategy of fishermen seeking flying fish eggs to increase their resilience to climate changes and market prices on Masalima Island? 2) What are the challenges faced by fishermen seeking flying fish eggs on Masalima Island? This thesis is a qualitative research method with descriptive analysis and a sociological approach. Data collection techniques used include direct observation, interviews, and documentation on Masalima Island, Liukang Kalmas District, Pangkep Regency. The data analysis techniques applied include the stages of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study are not optimal and require improvement. Regarding the resilience strategy of Pattorani or flying fish egg seekers, it provides an overview of the ability of coastal communities to face social, economic, and ecological challenges adaptively and sustainably. However, fishermen face threats of climate/weather changes and sea conditions, barges on the northern and southern routes, engine damage, and broken epe-epe as well as limited access to market prices. In dealing with fluctuations in catches, they rely on adaptive strategies such as income diversification and community cooperation. The implications of this study indicate that Pattorani fishermen or flying fish egg collectors have high adaptive abilities in facing social, economic, and ecological challenges through sustainable traditional practices on Masalima Island.
