Abstract

The logistics and distribution system in the retail industry in Indonesia has its own complexity. The growth and productivity of the retail outlets in Indonesia have been increasing from year to year. Distribution activities in this study are related to the formation of salesman visit routes involving around 38,900 customer base retail outlets, which are quite numerous in number, calling for a challenging approach to find the optimized solution. Therefore, the case study in this research will be discussed on the concept of the Traveling Salesman Problem (TSP) and the Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP), considering the work balance and visit pattern constraints. The methods used in this research are the balanced K-means and the Minimum Span Tree – Kruskal’s Walk algorithm, which are proven to solve the problem with a shorter computation time and a more balanced daily route than the current conditions as the results.

Abstract

As the largest archipelago nation in the world, Indonesia’s logistics system has not shown excellence according to the parameters of logistics performance index and based on logistics costs percentages from overall GDP. This is due to the imbalances of trading on the western and eastern regions in Indonesia, which impacts the transportation systems costs to and from the eastern regions. Therefore, it is imperative to improve the competitiveness of Indonesian maritime logistics through maritime logistics network design. This research will focus on three levels of decision making in logistics network design, which include type of ships in the strategic level, shipping routes in the tactical level, and container allocation in the operational level with implementing butterfly routes in Indonesia’s logistics networking problems. Furthermore, this research will analyze the impact of Pendulum Nusantara and Sea Toll routes against the company profits and percentages of containers shipped. This research will also foresee how demand uncertainties and multi-period planning should affect decision making in designing the Indonesian Liner Shipping Network.

Abstract

Abstract

This study addresses a method to solve the Vehicle Routing Problem with Simultaneous Pickup and Delivery (VRPSPD), which carries multi-products in multiple compartments within a single-vehicle. The unique characteristics of the study is on the route determination of the vehicle from the depot to customers because not only does it consider the vehicle’s capacity but also the compartment capacity of each product as a limitation We calculate the set of instances using two customer grouping methods namely smallest maximum load (SML) and largest maximum load (LML). The solution obtained by the cheapest insertion method can be improved by the Tabu Search algorithm. Finally, the computational result is reported from the test instance.

Abstract

This research aims to develop a method for information technology (IT) project prioritization that is very easy for a user through a case study in a manufacturing company. This researchused descriptive qualitative research based on survey data from unstructured and semistructured interviews with system development managers. Furthermore, the applicability of the developed method is assessed. A combination of importance analysis and risk analysis using failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) is useful and applicable to this company. The risk that is considered in this study is the risk of a delayed project for the company. This study contributes to the relevant literature by proposing a very applicable IT project prioritization method. Keywords: IT Project Prioritization, Risk Analysis, FMEA, Importance Analysis
