Abstract

Tidal floods are a regular threat in the coastal area of North Medan, which includes Medan Belawan, Medan Labuhan, and Medan Marelan. This research aims to map the level of vulnerability to tidal flooding using the Ordinal Logistic Regression (RLO) approach combined with Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Nine factors were analyzed: rainfall, drainage density, land use, distance from rivers, distance from the sea, soil type, elevation, slope, and topographic aspects. The analysis showed that rainfall, elevation, and distance from the sea were the most significant factors. The vulnerability map shows that 7.6% of areas are classified as highly vulnerable, 64.74% high, 27.36% medium, and only 0.3% low. The accuracy of the model reached 87.84%. These results provide a solid foundation for spatial planning, disaster mitigation, and coastal adaptation strategies.

Abstract

Bagan Deli Village, located in Medan Belawan District, is a coastal area that is vulnerable to tidal flooding due to rising sea levels and land subsidence. The land subsidence and speed of land subsidence that occurred in Bagan Deli Village, Medan Belawan District, amounted to 6.50 cm. This problem has a significant impact on the social, economic, and environmental lives of the local community. This study aims to analyze tidal flood mitigation strategies that can be applied to reduce its impact. The method used is descriptive qualitative with a field study approach, interviews, and documentation. The results of the analysis show that the construction of drainage channels, river dredging, raising floors, infiltration wells, water gates, socialization and formation of working groups, planting mangroves, pump houses, and stilt houses are effective mitigations. This study provides strategic recommendations for local governments and related parties in formulating appropriate and sustainable tidal flood mitigation policies.

Abstract

Bencana adalah peristiwa atau rangkaian peristiwa yang mengancam dan mengganggu kehidupan dan penghidupan masyarakat. Jika terjadi bencana, maka akan memunculkan permasalahan yang dapat dikategorikan menjadi 2 (dua), yakni (1) di saat bencana biasanya timbul korban dalam keadaan meninggal atau cedera yang membutuhkan pertolongan medis darurat dan (2) terjadi pengungsian yang memunculkan masalah kesehatan masyarakat pengungsi. Bencana erupsi gunung Sinabung yang terjadi di kota Medan Sumatera Utara merupakan bencana yang dapat menimbulkan permasalahan yang dikategorikan seperti di atas. Sanitasi dan penyediaan air bersih merupakan pokok persoalan yang harus cepat tanggap untuk diselesaikan. Adapun ruang lingkup sanitasi adalah sebagai berikut : Air limbah domestic (Black water & Grey water) , pengelolaan persampahan, drainase lingkungan/tersier. Posko bencana yang terletak didaerah Desa Jandi Meriah kecamatan Tiganderket kabupaten karo menjadi perhatian pada kasus ini. Dengan adanya perencanaan ini diharapkan dapat meminimalisir terjadinya pencemaran lingkungan dan meningkatkan kondisi sanitasi sehingga tingkat kesehatan masyarakat dapat meningkat.
