Abstract

Health problems in the elderly begins with the process of deterioration of body cells, which causes a decrease in function and immune system so that it can increase risk factors for disease. Some diseases that are often experienced by the elderly include, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, rheumatism, gout, hearing loss, vision problems, osteoporosis, and others. These conditions will have an impact on increasing morbidity and mortality, declining quality of life, and increasing health financing. The method of implementing community service activities is carried out by educating health issues, providing guidance, counseling and mentoring to 20 elderly groups. The purpose of community service activities is to increase health care efforts which are expected to implement programs to create or improve the ability to live healthy in the community both individuals and groups to be able to solve various problems related to health improvement and disease prevention on an ongoing basis. Education is carried out with health education about general elderly diseases that often occur, namely Diabetes and Gout, then conduct guidance and counseling by dividing into groups, and provide assistance by teaching foot exercises and foot care. Results The implementation of community service activities shows the results that Good Knowledge about degenerative diseases (85.0%), after the mentoring activities namely guidance, counseling, foot gymnastics simulation and foot care. Paired t-test results before and after the assistance was given p value of 0.007. It is expected that the elderly group can be independent in efforts to prevent degenerative diseases that are focused on diabetes mellitus

Abstract

Empowering students as elementary school students to become young nurses is an activity that can improve students' knowledge and skills so that they can become movers and supervisors for healthy behavior in the school environment. The method used in this service is the training of young nurses, mentoring, and evaluation. The material presented in the training of young nurses is how to care for wounds, personal hygiene care, how to wash hands with soap properly, how to measure weight and height, how to maintain cleanliness of the school environment, how to recognize signs and symptoms of diarrheal disease, and intestinal worms. It is hoped that through this training students can become movers and supervisors for healthy living behaviors in schools. Young nurses who are trained are expected to be able to do wound care, measure height, measure weight, teach how to wash hands with soap and conduct health education to other students. The results of this community service activity showed that most students had good knowledge, good attitude and good skills after attending training on washing hands with soap. Students' skills on how to treat wounds showed mostly good after attending training on how to treat wounds. Students' skills on how to measure height and weight showed a good overall after attending training on how to measure height and weight.

Abstract

Mothers have a role as caregivers for their children, this role will affect the growth and development of children. The role of mothers in providing nutritious food to children is influenced by many factors, one of which is the mother's knowledge and ability to manage simple foods that have high nutritional value. This community service activity was carried out in the Hamlet VII Mekar Sari, Deli Tua Village, Biru-biru District in 2021. The service participants were housewives who had 49 school-age children. Activities carried out include counseling on nutrition for school-age children, training in making simple foods with high nutritional value, interactive games and competitions to serve simple foods with high nutritional value. The results of the service activities obtained data on maternal knowledge before being given counseling and education in the good category of 36.7% (19 people) after being given action by 100% (49 people) knowing the nutrition of school-age children. The ability of the mother before being given the action was in good category 37.2% (18 people) and after being given the action 98% (48 people). A mother's ability to provide simple food with high nutritional value is influenced by a mother's level of knowledge. A good level of knowledge and supported by the participation of health workers in helping families, especially mothers, can reduce the occurrence of malnutrition in school-age children.

Abstract

Cervical cancer is the leading cause of cancer death for women in developing countries. The incidence of cervical cancer will increase four times greater in family planning acceptors who use hormonal contraceptives with a duration of more than five years. The high incidence of cervical cancer requires counseling for the community to conduct early detection of the possibility of cervical cancer. Through training and mentoring activities with comprehensive learning in productive age mother groups in the cervical cancer prevention and care Movement (GERCEP) efforts in the community that can increase knowledge as well as early prevention of cervical cancer and health maintenance efforts for productive age mothers. The method of implementing community service activities is carried out by providing education, learning training in the form of quizzing to 50 productive age mother groups. Education is carried out by providing health counseling about cervical cancer and how to prevent it through PHBS. The results of the implementation of this community service activity show that the mother's knowledge about cervical cancer and its prevention is in the good category (100%), after learning training activities. The results of the paired t-test test before and after being given learning training obtained a p value of 0.000. The results of this activity are expected that mothers are able to increase knowledge and insight in efforts to prevent cervical cancer through clean and healthy living behaviors.

Abstract

Cancer is a group of diseases that occur due to changes in body cells into abnormal cells. Treatment of breast cancer takes a long time and has a negative impact on the physical and mental patients. The cause of patients not following chemotherapy treatment routinely and leaving the chemotherapy treatment schedule in one treatment cycle is because the patient's physical condition is not strong so he cannot continue treatment. Cancer is one of the leading causes of death in developing countries. Every year the number of cancer sufferers in the world increases to 6.25 million people. In developed countries, cancer is the second leading cause of death after card iovascular diseases.This research is descriptive quantitative research with the aim to analyze the characteristics of cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy in murni teguh hospital medan. The study sample is 30 patient cancer with simple random sampling. . data collection using a questionnaire, consisting of demographic data cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, collect data in Murni Teguh Hospital Medan, April – September 2019.
