Abstract

Laboratorium merupakan sarana yang sangat penting keberadaaannya di satuan pendidikan dasar dan menengah. Laboratorium dengan aktivitas praktikumnya dapat membantu pemahaman siswa terhadap konsep yang dipelajarinya di kelas sehingga meningkatkan minat belajar siswa terhadap sains. Salah satu kompetensi dalam proses belajar mengajar adalah kemampuan siswa memecahkan masalah di kehidupan sehari-hari. Ini bisa tercapai dengan bantuan laboratorium beserta alat peraga yang tersedia di sekolah. Kemampuan psikomotorik siswa akan terasah dalam memecahkan masalah-masalah yang berkaitan dengan konsep sains. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarkat dilakukan dengan beberapa metode yaitu survey awal terhadap permasalahan mitra, merancang alat peraga dan peralatan praktikum, praktikum sederhana di laboratorium danmembuat buku penuntun praktikum. Pada kegiatan praktikumdi laboratorium diperoleh nilai pre-test dengan rata-rata 51,38 dengan nilai tertinggi 70 dan terendah 20. Sedangkan nilai post-test memiliki rata-rata 79,31 dengan nilai tertinggi 100 dan terendah 30. Hasil pre-test dan post-test ini menunjukkan adanya kenaikan nilai rata-rata siswa sebesar 54,36%.

Abstract

The area of agricultural land tends to decrease each year due to land conversion. In 2009 the area of land was reduced by 97 hectares. This is because the land is allocated to non-agricultural land. In urban areas, with all the busyness faced by people in urban areas they do not have time to farm. Moreover, not enough land is available or has no room to come into contact with agricultural cultivation. Not to mention that we often see dwellings that are quite dense and save land, how to foster hobbies and agricultural businesses, especially for housewives, teenagers or retirees? Currently various methods are carried out in line with technological developments. Verticulture is a technique of farming in a room / narrow land by utilizing a vertical plane as a place for farming which is carried out in stages. The purpose of verticulture is to make optimal use of narrow land. The stages of this implementation are the Socialization of Verticulture Cultivation Techniques at Ibnu Sina MTs, Assistance and the process of planting verticultural cultivation techniques, Evaluation and gift giving as awards to students and schools. The results achieved in this community service are products or goods produced in the form of verticulture, this socialization service is carried out in practice so that participants, students and teachers, can understand the techniques of plant cultivation with verticultural techniques as well as good planting and maintenance methods, Plant cultivation techniques with vertikultus techniques and ways of planting and good care have been understood by students in Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) Ibnu Sina, Pematangsiantar City and have been well implemented.

Abstract

Laboratories are very important in primary and secondary educational levels. Laboratories with practical activities can help students understand the concepts they have learned in class so as to increase their learning interest in science. One of the competencies in the learning process is the ability of students to solve problems in their life. This can be achieved with the help of laboratories and teaching aids available at the school. The psychomotor abilities of students will be honed in solving problems related to science concepts. Community service activities are carried out by several methods, the initial survey of partner problems, designing teaching aids and practicum equipment, simple practicum in the laboratory and making a practical guidebook. In the lab activities in the laboratory, the pre-test value was obtained with an average of 51.38 with the highest score was 70 and the lowest was 20. While the post-test score had an average of 79.31 with the highest score was 100 and the lowest was 30. The pre-test and post-test results showed an increase in the average value of students by 54.36%.

Abstract

Washing hands is a process to remove dirt and germs that cause diseases found on the skin of the hands by using water and soap. Washing hands is done because hands are often germ-carrying agents and cause pathogens to move from one person to another, either by direct contact or indirect contact. Washing hands with soap is very useful to kill germs on the hands. Clean hands will prevent transmission of diseases such as diarrhea, cholera, dysentery, typhus, intestinal worms, skin diseases, acute respiratory infections (ARI), bird flu or Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). Community service activities carried out at Almujahidah Foundation, located at Jalan Bilal Gang Makmur Lingkungan I, Sari Rejo sub-district, Medan Polonia in the form of training in making Handwash with the addition of chitosan as an antimicrobial. This activity is carried out with several methods, namely an initial survey of partner problems, conducting socialization about the importance of having a clean lifestyle by always washing hands using soap, conducting training on handwashing and monitoring and evaluation. During the public service process and evaluation and monitoring it has been concluded that students at the Almujahidah Foundation school have been able to make handwashes independently and continuously with the assistance of supervision from the teachers

Abstract

One of the efforts to improve community welfare is through community empowerment activities. Through the Community Service Program for women's groups in Percut Sei Tuan, it is hoped that women can increase family income. Available natural resources such as natural dyes made from wood around the mangrove forest can be used to support batik products with natural dyes. Types of natural dyes include those from the wood species Rhizopora, Avicennia, Ceriop, Bruguiera. In this service activity the group has made products in the form of handkerchiefs and printed batik cloths.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic requires all people in Indonesia to comply with health protocols, from washing hands to wearing masks. Cloth masks are one of the masks that are widely used by the community. However, the public needs to pay attention to the rules of the cloth masks used. The purposes of this study were to produce an antibacterial filter on masks and to find out the effective and efficient processing of banana stems as an antibacterial filter on masks. Banana stems were chosen as the raw material because it is easy to obtain, has a cellulose content of ± 63%, and has antibacterial compounds in it. The stages of this research were sample preparation, phytochemical screening of banana stems, isolation of α-cellulose and synthesis of cellulose acetate from α-cellulose which were further characterized by using FTIR, manufacture of dop solution, manufacture of nanofiber membranes by electrospinning, and product application. The resulting product was then tested by pressure drop test, contact angle test, antibacterial activity test, SEM test, and porosity test. The test results showed that the resulting product was a nanofiber with a fiber diameter of ± 220.74075 nm, had antibacterial activity which was indicated by the formation of inhibition zone with a diameter of ± 14.8 mm in Escherichia coli and ± 9.8 mm in Staphylococcus. aureus, the filter is hydrophilic with an average contact angle of 60°. From the observations, it can be concluded that banana stems have the potential as an antibacterial filter on masks.
