Abstract

The research aims to describe the forms of local wisdom related to the conservation of Togutil tribal forests in the village of Labi-Labi district of North Wasilei district East Halmahera. The problem tree in the research was more focused on the form of local wisdom that the Togutil tribe possessed in conserving forests. The method in this research is qualitative descriptive with the data sources used there are two: primary data sources and secondary data source. The data collection techniques used are: observations and interviews, library studies as well as documentary materials.research results revealed that the togutil tribe in the village of Labi-labi's life is still dependent on the forest and has local wisdom in conserving the forest. Local wisdom is the prohibition of protecting forests or called “bugo” and local wisdom of using traditional medicines that come from the forest in treating diseases experienced by the community. The Togutil tribe has a spatial concept in managing the forest by dividing the use of the forest into three parts: jorame (Goyowa), gardens (Dumule) and forests (Hongana madutu). Conservation based on local wisdom also directly imply inining ecological balance so that forests remain awake and on the other hand also imply on the economy of communities. It’s necessary for the Government of East Halmahera district to protect Togutil tribal communities spread across the district and then to study and make local wisdom in forest conservation as a method that can be used in the preservation of forests in Eastern Halmahera district.

Abstract

Landslides often occur in Seki village. This study aims to mapping the level of landslide disaster vulnerability in Seki village, South Galela Distric. Mapping landslide-prone areas is a mitigation narrative and a reference for consideration of future regional development. This study uses the Slope Morphology method (SMORPH). Mapping using the slope tools for slope slopes and the curvature tools for slope shapes. Data analysis was carried out overlay of slope and slope shapes maps using ArcGIS 10.8 software to obtain a map of the landslide vulnerability in Seki village. Results of the research on the convex slope shape have the highest area compared to concave and flat forms, which is 1540.49 ha or 65.44%. Seki village area can be divided into two segments based on distribution of slope slopes. The slope of 0-8% dominates the central area to the northern region, the southern part is dominated by slopes of 8-15% and 15-25%. Landslide vulnerability in Seki village for the central to northern region is dominated by the very low category, the southern region is dominated by a low level of vulnerability. Level of medium and high landslide vulnerability is spread across the southern and northern regions. The distribution area of medium and high landslide vulnerability needs to be a serious concern, especially the village government and the people of Seki village.

Abstract

Tanjung Pilawang is a coastal area located in Gura Village, Tobelo District, North Halmahera Regency, to be precise. This area used to be an area that had mangrove and seagrass ecosystems that were categorized as good, but development activities have caused the mangrove ecosystem to decline. The aim of the research is to see the condition of the mangrove ecosystem and the impact on the catches of fishermen who live in the mangrove ecosystem area. The methodology used in this research is descriptive qualitative based on the results of a literature review. Qualitative descriptive is a research method used to describe a topic, object or problem systematically and factually based on the conditions, nature and relationships between the variables studied. The research results show that mangrove damage has occurred in Tanjung Pilawang. This has a big influence on fishermen's catches. This condition can be proven by the fish resources which currently almost no longer exist in the area around the mangroves. Apart from that, the condition of the resource community is bivalves from the types Isognomon sp and Saccostrea sp, crustaceans from the type S. paramamosain (green mangrove crab), which initially existed around the mangrove ecosystem at the research location, but due to degradation and human activities and residential development caused a decline density of bivalves and they no longer even exist. Meanwhile, gastropod resources of the Nerita sp, Tereblia sp and Littorina spp species experienced a decrease in density

Abstract

The study was conducted to find a portrait of the life of the Togutil tribe and the use of forest products in the form of medicines that are used as their daily needs. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The purpose of descriptive research is to describe and understand the behavior patterns of a community as it is in the context of wholeness or a unified whole, and the results of the study show that the existence of the Togutil tribe is still highly dependent on the forest. The use of medicines is hereditary knowledge which is still maintained because it is proven by what is directly accepted by the community.

Abstract

Juanga Village, South Morotai District, Morotai Island Regency, is one of the areas that is very vulnerable to coastal erosion, this is due to the high sea waves that often occur. Community service activities aim to educate the local community about the importance of planting mangroves as an effort to mitigate the coastal erosion disaster that occurred in Juanga Village. Community service starts from identifying problems that occur, then conducting outreach to the community and carrying out mangrove planting actions in designated areas involving KKNT students at Hein Namotemo University. The result of Community Service is that the community can be educated to continue to maintain natural balance by planting coastal vegetation that can withstand the rate of abrasion, one of which is mangroves because mangrove vegetation is important vegetation for the sustainability of marine biota and as a coast guard from abrasion. It is hoped that with this activity the people of Juanga Village can increase their knowledge and carry out sustainable planting.
