Abstract

This study aims to find the historical and theological vision of the Church’s concept as the household of God. Historically, the idea of family or household was a heritage of ancient society. Theologically, the idea was related to God in Jesus Christ as a cornerstone and foundation for the Christian community living in the world. This concept is very relevant as the way for Christians to face various crises in life. This research uses qualitative research methods through a literature study approach. The data analysis uses the historical-theological criticism, which starts from the idea of family and household in the New Testament world, covering the context of Israel in the Bible, Greco-Roman society, and New Testament writings, then interpretation the meaning of the community of the believer as the household of God in Ephesians 2:19. Argumentatively, I argue that the idea of God’s household has a strong influence on the relevance of being Church today in addressing various social problems, both problems of life crises and social inequalities, as well as various conflicts.

Abstract

This study aims to explain that the process of building and maintaining peace in the context of a plural society can be carried out by reactivating the collective memory and cultural identity of the community. Cultural memory and cultural identity that are based on historical-cultural experience are a social capital that nurtures harmony between communities. Qualitatively this study uses a literature study and field research approach. To explore the concepts of collective memory and cultural identity, author uses the concept from Edwards Shils, Maurice Halbwachs, and Paul Gilbert. The field study was obtained through a process of in-depth interviews with key informants, including religious leaders such as the Pastor and Imam of the Mosque, facilitators and community leaders in Batumerah from two communities, Islam and Christianity. Finally, the authors found that the collective memory of the cultural identity of Maluku people as brother people (orang basudara) is a strong social capital to transform conflict, and maintain peace among post-conflict communities. This can be a theoretical foothold in managing the diversity of peaceful lives as fellow brothers in Indonesia.

Abstract

This article aims to emphasize that being Christian and being Indonesian are a manifestation of the Christian faith. The methodological approach used to explain it is trajectory history. The historical traces of Indonesia's struggle for independence, especially its nationalism movement, can be compared in a historical analysis with the experience of the colonialization of the Jews, the ministry of Jesus, and His crucifixion. The crucifixion' Jesus, which had occurred at the time of the colonialization of Jews, is the center of Christian preaching. Both the Jewish community and the Indonesian people had the same experience of colonialism in different eras and different powers. Finally, I urge that if the crucifixion of Jesus is interpreted as a history of redemption and the revelation of God's will, Indonesian Christians as disciples of Jesus are called to take part in developing the Indonesian nation. Indonesian Christians are an integral part of the nation.

Abstract

The theological debate between Islam and Christianity has been going on for centuries. The debate covered various theological issues such as the meaning of the revelations to the Prophet Muhammad, the revelations of the Qur’ān, then the divinity of Jesus, the Incarnation of Jesus, the Trinity, and so on. The theological debates between the two religions often lead to contradictions and conflicts. This article aims to carry out a comparative study of critical theological issues, namely the Incarnation of Jesus and the Revelation of the Qur'an as the Word of God, and the meaning of the roles of Mary and Muhammad as carriers of God's Word. I use comparative analysis to seek a mutual understanding of two different religious concepts and traditions. From the results of the analysis, I propose that the main thesis is the theological vision of the revelation of God's Word both through incarnation and revelation of the Qur'an is to ground God's peace.
