Abstract

Agricultural extension agents are agents of change who are directly related to farmers The purpose of the extension is to change the behavior of farmers in terms of knowledge, attitudes, and skills so that farmers have a more prosperous life. Rice farmers in West Tojo District carry out farming activities that still rely on hereditary habits, causing farmers to lack the capacity to run food crop businesses, both technically in cultivation, harvesting, and marketing. The objectives of the study are (1) to determine the level of capacity of rice farmers in Kabalo Village Tojo Una-Una District and, (2) to determine the effect of the role of extension agents on increasing the capacity of rice farmers in Kabalo Village Tojo Una-Una District. This research was conducted from March 2020 to August 2020 in Kabalo Village West Tojo District Tojo Una-Una Regency. This study used a population sample of 56 rice farmers. Based on the results of this study, the role of agricultural extension agents had an effect on the success rate of rice farmers in Kabalo Village. Through increasing the role of extension workers, both facilitators, motivators, mediators, advisors, and communicators, could increase the capacity of farmers in managing capital, utilizing technology, labor, and marketing processes that benefit farmers.

Abstract

Callosobruchus maculates F. merupakan hama utama kacang-kacangan ditempat penyimpanan dan menyebabkan kerugian yang berarti. Upaya alternative yang dapat dilakukan untuk mengurangi tingkat kerusakan dan kerugian oleh hama ini, berupa pemanfaatan daun sirih (Piper betle) karena kandungan senyawa bioaktif pada daun sirih bersifat insektisidal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui daya toksisitas tepung daun sirih (Piper betle) dan mendapatkan dosis tepung daun sirih (Piper betle) yang efektif mematikan hama Callosobruchus maculatus F. pada kacang hijau di penyimpanan. Penelitian dengan metode eksperimen ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan 7 perlakuan. Perlakuan yang diuji yaitu: S0= 0g tepung daun sirih/ 100g kacang hijau; S1= 5g tepung daun sirih/ 100g kacang hijau; S2= 10g tepung daun sirih/ 100g kacang hijau; S3= 15g tepung daun sirih/ 100g kacang hijau; S4= 20g tepung daun sirih/ 100g kacang hijau; S5= 25g tepung daun sirih/ 100g kacang hijau; S6= 30g tepung daun sirih/ 100g kacang hijau. Adapun parameter amatan yang akan diamati yaitu 1) Mortalitas Harian C. maculatus F (%); 2) Mortalitas Total C. maculatus F (%); 3) Penyusutan Berat Biji Kacang Hijau (%); dan 4) Lethal Dose 50% (LD50) dan Lethal Dose 95% (LD95). Data hasil penelitin akan dianalisis dengan menggunakn Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). Hasil Penelitian menunjukan bahwa tepung daun sirih berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap mortalitas imago C.maculatus dan Persentase mortalitas mencapai 83,33% pada dosis 30gr tepung daun sirih. LD50  tepung daun sirih yaitu 14,79gr dan LD95 yaitu 41,99gr.
