Abstract

ABSTRACTIn recent years there has been quite an exciting debate amongacademics, especially those with a Pentecostal style, including: howfar is the difference between Evangelical hermeneutics in generaland Pentecostalist hermeneutics? For example, in reading Acts 1:1-11, our attention may be immediately drawn to the words power ordunamis. It's true, this is a magical word for many people, even Dr.Menzies has written about Empowering Spirit. In this description wediscuss things that are rarely discussed or overlooked in general.

Abstract

Abstract In a previous article in a Journal, with title: “How Shannon Entropyperspective provides link among exponential data growth, averagetemperature of the Earth, declining Earth magnetic field, and globalconsciousness” (BPAS Section F, Geology, 2019), we discussedamong other things that the sunspot data seems to indicate that theSun is likely to enter Maunder Minimum, then it will mean that low Sun activity may cause low temperature in Earth, while in themeantime we experience increasingly high Earth surfacetemperature. We shall also keep in mind impending global climatechanges in the near future (cf. Toffler, The Eco-spasm report, 1975).This phenomenon then causes us to ask: what can we do as humanbeing in Earth to postpone or avoid the worsening situation in termsof Earth cooling temperature in the coming years? We think this is amore pressing problem for the real and present danger that we arefacing in the Earth. As we discussed earlier, we would discuss here alow temperature physics approach to early Universe along with thisearth, which seems to be linked to paleo-astrogeological process ofour Earth, along with a model Sun-Earth interaction in terms ofShannon entropy. Since Shannon entropy can be expressed as bits ofinformation, then it would mean that perhaps we can do somethingwith Earth temperature by controlling the amount of informationtransfer and storage in the Earth. An alternative way that can beconsidered in this regard is to monitor and cool deep-ocean fisheries, because several kind of deep-sea fishes are likely to affect the globalsea temperature, and then the global surface temperature tends toincrease.

Abstract

As we discussed in a forthcoming article, there is an alternative hypothesisthat can be considered in lieu of the so-called Baur’s Tuebingen school, thatis the formative years of Earliest Christianity led to such notion of synthesisbetween Petrine Christianity and Pauline Christianity. Instead, we consider a branching process, which can be considered alternatively as spreadingnetwork even to Asia and Europe at the time. Corresponding to the hypothesis is that the four witnesses who worked on at the period to write down the four Gospels were more likely to write independently. In the meantime, this hypothesis does not exclude possibility that they ever met in person, at the First Council in Jerusalem as depicted in the book of Acts chapter 15, or before, or after that event.

Abstract

The present article explores St. Paul's approximately three-year ministry in Ephesus as a profound case study in transformative disciple-making, which we suggest a term : “slow disciple-making” method. Focusing on Acts chapter 19, it argues that Paul's remarkable breakthrough in undermining the worship of Artemis, culminating in the uprising led by Demetrius, stemmed from a deliberate "slow disciple-making" approach. This method encompassed intensive coaching, deep Bible engagement, and a process of re-conscientization, which systematically challenged and transformed the prevailing pagan worldview. The paper further connects Paul's exemplary work to the subsequent dramatic destruction of idols, including the statue of Artemis, as narrated in the apocryphal Acts of John (chapters 38-45), portraying it as a culmination of the spiritual groundwork laid by Paul. This article contends that this long-term disciple-making was a blueprint that St Paul also intended to replicate in Rome and was a methodology profoundly exemplified by Jesus Christ Himself.
