Abstract

Abstract. The high mortality rate due to drowning is partly due to the inaccurate knowledge and skills of the helper and the inappropriate principles of initial rescue action. Emergency case assistance can not only be done by health workers but can also be done by ordinary people such as fishermen. This will determine the safety of the victim's life before health workers are at the scene of the incident or before being taken to the health service. Community service activities were carried out by lecturing, question and answer methods, and simulations of emergency relief actions which were held on November 2, 2019, in Bajoe Village, Soropia District, Konawe Regency, which was attended by 40 people. The results of the activity can increase the knowledge, understanding and skills of coastal communities and fishermen groups about coastal emergencies and how to carry out basic life support.
