Abstract

Adsorption is one alternative to acid mine drainage (AMD) management, particularly for reducing heavy metal concentrations. Adsorption is still performed manually at this time. In this study, the adsorption procedure is automated and controlled via Arduino rather than being performed manually. The efficacy of using an Arduino in the adsorption of AMD at a pH of 2.6 and an Fe initial concentration of 42.807 mg/L was assessed by modifying the adsorption time parameters. The results showed that the assembled instrument was able to reduce the Fe concentration to meet the quality standards in just 2 minutes. The effectiveness of Fe adsorption reached 96.79% with a final concentration of 1.3724 mg/L. Fe adsorption capacity reached 0.0414 mg/g in the second minute. The Fe adsorption process in this study is chemical adsorption.

Abstract

Along with the dynamics of governance that increasingly leads to a process of autocratization that tends to be counterproductive to the values of constitutionalism and seems to destroy the will of the wider community, which is shown through the practice of autocratic legalism by utilizing the power of the three branches of power to perpetuate a unilateral interest through legal reform so that it appears to be legal and constitutional but essentially deviates from the principles of the rule of law, Where one of its main characteristics is to provide protection for human rights, so this research is present to reveal the causal relationship between the practice of autocratic legalism and its impact on the enforcement of citizens' individual rights within the framework of analyzing several court decisions. The method used in the research is normative research using several approaches, namely the statute apporoach, conceptual approach, and case study approach. The results of the study concluded that: first, in several court decisions, judges in formulating their ratio decidendi did not seem to apply the law properly as a result of only relying on formal truth and negating material facts which in fact are the truth that must be prioritized so that the arbitrary actions of the government seemed to be “normalized” through court decisions. Second, from this situation, of course the implication of autocratic legalism on law enforcement of citizens' individual rights is the abuse of government power by power holders for one-sided interests by overriding the individual rights of citizens, including human rightsvaccines are more due to global supply issues and high demand than Australia's violation of Article 31 TRIPS. This research confirms the importance of compulsory licenses in the face of the global health crisis. A fair and effective implementation of compulsory licenses can improve access to essential medicines, support public health, and fulfill the principles of fairness in licensing.

Abstract

Along with the enactment of Law Number 7 of 2020 concerning the Third Amendment to Law Number 24 of 2003 concerning the Constitutional Court (Constitutional Court Law) which has reaped academic and practical debates among the public, especially regarding its urgency aspects towards strengthening the independence of the constitutional justice institution, so this study is present to identify the nature and characteristics of the dynamics of the formation of the third revision of the Constitutional Court Law which is analyzed parsimoniously in the legal political landscape. This study is a normative legal research conducted through a library research method using several approaches, namely the statute approach, conceptual approach and case approach. The results of the study show that the strengthening of the government's position and the weakening of the role of the DPR as well as civil society in the third revision of the Constitutional Court Law as a result of the formation of an oversized coalition posture have implications for legislative performance that characterizes the authoritarian political configuration. Then, the massive public criticism of the norms in the third revision of the Constitutional Court Law, which in fact is considered not in line with public aspirations, substantively indicates that the law produces conservative legal arrangements.

Abstract

This study investigates the effect of seawater moisture content on the resistivity of unconsolidated sand in the coastal region of Yogyakarta. Laboratory experiments were conducted using a standard ASTM G-57 soil box with samples prepared at varying percentages of seawater moisture content. The results indicate that increasing seawater content in the sediment medium leads to an exponential decrease in resistivity. A mathematical relationship was established in the form of a power function: R=1145.7MC?2.23. Resistivity values tend to stabilize when the moisture content exceeds 13%. A resistivity range of 0.8–2.8 ??m is proposed as a cut-off for identifying seawater intrusion in coastal areas. These findings provide an important contribution to the development of geoelectrical methods for monitoring seawater intrusion and evaluating groundwater quality in coastal regions, which can serve as a basis for sustainable water resource management.

Abstract

Understanding of Earth's subsurface is crucial for mitigating geological hazards, particularly earthquakes. A key parameter for subsurface characterization is the surface wave dispersion curve, which strongly reflects shear wave velocity (Vs) at various depths. This study presents an extraction of dispersion curves from earthquake signals using the Short-Time Fourier Transform (STFT). The STFT method enables the analysis of non-stationary signals like earthquake signals by dividing them into small segment, assumed-stationary segments, then applying the Fourier Transform to each segment. This process generates a time-frequency spectrogram that represents the evolution of frequencies over time. Myanmar earthquake M 7.7 is one of the greatest earthquakes that have damaging impacts. We used three inline stations for evaluating the waveform at CHTO (Chiang Mai, Thailand), KAPI (Sulawesi, Indonesia), and WRAB (Tennant Creek, NT, Australia). Waveform for KAPI and WRAB stations categorized teleseismic event represented good penetration waves to image deeper subsurface layes. Surface waves clearly seen at KAPI and WRAB classified by very low frequency and high amplitude in wave group train.  The spectrogram, energy peaks at each frequency can be identified, which directly correlate with the group velocity of the surface waves. STFT successfully extract dispersion curve of surface waves at KAPI and WRAB station. However, the dispersion curve could not be extracted at CHTO station because its too close to the epicentre resulted in significant interference of waves phase caused inseparable frequency spectrum on each wave phases. Remarks on the study is stations nearer to the epicenter exhibit a higher frequency and broader range of dominant frequency, while those farther away show a lower frequency and narrow frequency range. The advantage of the STFT method lies in its ability to enable the identification of dispersion modes with good time-frequency resolution.
