Abstract

New santri (student) at pondok pesantren (Islamic boarding school) usually those who enter the stage of adolescent development as it is known at the age of adolescence is a period of transition and major changes occur both physically, psychologically and relationships in the social environment. Santri are just starting to learn to adapt to a new environment, new atmosphere and of course all will have foreign feelings with changes in physical, psychological, social and cultural conditions. The adjustment of new santri is very much needed so that they can follow the culture and rules of the school. The inability to adapt can lead to various unwanted social problems, such as conflict or disruption of communication relationships. This can cause individuals to face difficulties and frustrations so that individuals was far from feeling happy, comfortable and safe in the environment where they live. New santri who experience psychological problems must immediately receive appropriate treatment so as to prevent unwanted physical and mental health problems such as depression, impaired self-concept and other physical problems. Based on the description above, the aim of the research was to find out the psychological condition of the new santri while living in the school. This study used a survey to obtain the data of the psychological condition of the new santri. The research was conducted in male and female dormitories. The sample in this study were all new santri living in the dormitory. The sampling technique used was the total sample method. In this study, the instrument used by using a questionnaire consists of 14 questions related to the psychological condition of the new santri. The results of the study showed that many students who did not feel comfortable living in the dormitory, on average they experienced anxiety disorders and stress about their new environment.

Abstract

WHO has officially declared COVID-19 a global pandemic. Islamic boarding schools are one of the arrangements that need to be implemented to prevent the spread of Covid-19. There are 9,369 students at the Darul 'Ulum Jombang Islamic Boarding School that have the potential to spread Covid-19 infections. Efforts to prevent the spread of Covid-19 were carried out by implementing 3M in accordance with the appeal of the government task force. The purpose of the study was to find out the phenomenon of the application of 3M (Washing hands, wearing masks and maintaining distance) of students at the Darul 'Ulum Islamic Boarding School Jombang. The research design used is qualitative research with descriptive phenomenological methods. The social situation is all students of the XV Al-Falah dormitory and the IV I Ainusyams dormitory. The participants were 6 students using purposive sampling technique. researchers as an instrument using interview guidelines, data collection using in-depth interview techniques. Data analysis using the Colaizzi method. The results of the study obtained 5 themes 1) Knowledge level 2) Breaking the rules 3) Confidence 4) Support from hostel caregivers and 5) Obeying the rules. Santri can implement 3M because they have knowledge, there is support from hostel caregivers who provide facilities and infrastructure, strict regulations and supervision make students have self-awareness. The reason students don't do 3M is because they are influenced by friends, the belief that not doing 3M makes them sick and the belief that doing 3M or not can make you sick if God wills.

Abstract

Bullying is a behavior that is carried out intentionally with the aim of hurting the target (victim) and the action is carried out repeatedly at school or anywhere. In the past, cases of bullying in Islamic boarding schools were still common and even increasing. Such as the case of bullying which led to a beating by a student at one of the Islamic boarding schools until the death of a student who became a victim of bullying. So based on the above background, the researcher aims to explore the experience of the perpetrators in carrying out bullying actions while at the pesantren. The study wanted to explore the experiences of students who were bullies in Islamic boarding schools by using a qualitative descriptive phenomenological design, namely exploring directly, analyzing, and describing the phenomena that were studied to the fullest. Participants in the study were students who became perpetrators of bullying in Islamic boarding schools. Snowball sampling is a data source sampling technique. Information is obtained from the student coach. The research instrument is the researcher himself. The researcher as an instrument, the researcher collects the data himself through documentation, behavioral observation or in-depth interviews with the participants. Data analysis in qualitative research using the Colaizzi model. The location of the research was carried out in a dormitory in one of the Islamic boarding schools in Jombang. This study conducted interviews with 5 participants which resulted in four themes including: 1) mentally weakened, 2) tortured, 3) gained power, 4) inner satisfaction.
