Abstract

Abstract

This article is the result of a research on the impact evaluation of transmigration development on carbon emissions in UPT Waleh SP.2, Central Halmahera Regency, North Maluku. Where the opening of transmigration land has the potential to change ecosystems, including vegetation cover, biomass, and greenhouse gas emissions, which can affect environmental sustainability. The objective of this study was to analyze changes in the ecosystem due to transmigration development, particularly on vegetation cover, carbon biomass, and carbon emissions. For this purpose, remote sensing technology and GIS-based spatial analysis were used with four main indicators: NDVI for vegetation cover, AGB for carbon biomass, CO as an emission indicator, and NPP for carbon absorption capacity. The results showed a decrease in NDVI, AGB, and NPP, as well as an increase in CO. Decreases in NDVI and AGB reflect vegetation degradation and biomass loss, while increases in CO are caused by human activities such as biomass burning and the use of motorized vehicles. The decrease in NPP indicates a decrease in the capacity of vegetation to absorb carbon.

Abstract

Ternate city be classified as a moderate to low level of poverty. Education level in the Kayu Merah of Ternate neighborhood is as follows: 884 people have completed primary school, 1,161 have done secondary school, and 502 have a university degree. We're working with the community in Kayu Merah on this PKM Programme. PKM method involves identifying the issues that need to be addressed. PKM activities include awareness-raising, training and active involvement in planned activities, such as fostering critical awareness among the community about the importance of active participation in environmental management and increasing knowledge and understanding of eco-friendly-house. We've seen the formation of community groups capable of managing environmental health, a rise in awareness about eco-friendly-house, and the early stages of a professional, organised community of environmentally conscious individuals. PKM was carried out as planned, with the aim of providing understanding of the eco-friendly-house programme and promoting environmental health.

Abstract

Abstract: Background. Tidore Islands City in North Maluku Province faces limited access to natural lighting in residential houses, especially in coastal and hilly areas, as seen in Fobaharu. The simple design of houses with few openings leads people to rely heavily on artificial lighting even during the day, thereby increasing electricity consumption and economic burden, especially for low-income families. Initial surveys indicate limited public knowledge of skylight technology as an energy-efficient lighting solution. Aims. This program aims to reduce dependence on electricity by using sunlight, increase literacy in environmentally friendly technologies, and empower the community to develop skylight innovations as local business opportunities. Methods. The activities carried out include socialization and theory training. Conclusion. Despite obstacles to access to the location and to the mobilization of equipment, this program is expected to increase the community's knowledge, skills, and independence in using skylight technology to improve quality of life and encourage energy sustainability.
