Abstract

Artikel ini membahas pelaksanaan dan desain pendidikan karakter sekolah dasar pesisir pantai. Penelitian dilakukan di SDN 06 Pasir Jambak dan SDN 19 Air Tawar Barat, Padang karena secara geografis kedua sekolah tersebut berada pada pesisir pantai kota Padang. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian Research and Development (R&D). Data penelitian diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam, dokumentasi dan pengisian angket. Uji keabsahan data dilakukan dengan teknik triangulasi sumber. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: 1) pelak-sanaan pendidikan karakter di sekolah daerah pesisir pantai masih belum terprogram dan terencana dengan baik, 2) faktor pendukung pelaksanaan pendidikan karakter di sekolah da-erah pesisir pantai didukung oleh beberapa kondisi, yakni: penciptaan budaya sekolah dan keteladan dari pihak sekolah, 3) faktor penghambat pelaksanaan pendidikan karakter di sekolah daerah pesisir pantai yakni kurangnya dukungan dari orang tua dan lingkungan sekitar. Hasil akhir penelitian berupa desain pendidikan karakter di sekolah dasar pesisir pantai yang bisa menjadi pedoman bagi sekolah daerah pesisir pantai dalam melaksanakan pendidikan karakter pada siswa.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the need for a special approach to instill character values. This study aims to analyze the process of internalizing the values of Muhammad Yamin's character as a source of character values in Civics learning. The research was conducted at SMPN 16 Kerinci grade 8 in Civics learning. The research was conducted with a qualitative approach to explore and analyze the internalization of Muhammad Yamin's character values as a source of character values in civics learning at SMPN 16 Kerinci. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Data credibility was tested with source triangulation. The results showed: (1) The values of Muhammad Yamin's character that are internalized in learning are democratic, integrity, love of reading, nationalism, and tolerance; (2) Internalization of Muhammad Yamin's character values is carried out in three stages, namely planning, implementation, and evaluation; and (3) The internalization process is well implemented. The study's results are expected to reference research on the internalization of character values.

Abstract

This article discusses about the role of citizenship education in multi-ethnic countries, namely in Malaysia and Singapore. Malaysia and Singapore are two former British colonies, and in the population, there are three main ethnic groups namely China, Malay and India. This article is study of literature by using the comparative method by analyzing 14 national and international journals related to citizenship and diversity education in Malaysia and Singapore. Based on the results of this research, there is a difference in the management of ethnic diversity in Malaysia and Singapore. However, both in Malaysia and Singapore, citizenship education equally play an important role in creating a harmonious society even in the diversity of cultures, languages, religions and customs. Keywords: citizenship education, multi-ethnic, multicultural, Malaysia, Singapura Abstrak Artikel ini membahas tentang peran pendidikan kewarganegaraan dalam menciptakan masyarakat yang harmonis di negara multietnik, yaitu di Malaysia dan Singapura. Malaysia dan Singapura adalah dua negara yang sama-sama bekas jajahan Inggris, dan dalam populasinya terdapat tiga etnis utama yaitu China, Melayu dan India. Tulisan ini merupakan studi literatur dengan menggunakan metode komparasi dengan menganalisis 14 jurnal nasional dan internasional terkait pendidikan kewarganegaraan dan keberagaman di Malaysia dan Singapura. Dari hasil penelitian dapat diketahui bahwa terdapat perbedaan dalam pengelolaan keberagaman etnis di Malaysia dan Singapura. Namun demikian baik di Malaysia maupun di Singapura, Pendidikan Kewarganegaraan sama-sama memegang peranan penting dalam menciptakan masyarakat yang harmonis walau dalam keberagaman budaya, bahasa, agama dan adat istiadat.
