Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the spatial distribution of the population of disaster-vulnerable groups in Bantul Regency in 2022. This study used secondary data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) with data on infants, toddlers, children, pregnant or breastfeeding mothers, people with disabilities, and the elderly. The collected data is then processed to determine the density intervals of high, medium, and low vulnerable groups. The study results are presented as a spatial distribution map of the density of vulnerable groups. The results showed that areas with a high density of vulnerable groups were in Kasihan and Piyungan sub-districts. Sites with a moderate density of vulnerable groups are in the Banguntapan, Sewon, Bantul, Jetis, and Imogiri sub-districts. Meanwhile, areas with low density of vulnerable groups are in Sedayu, Pajangan, Pleret, Dlingo, Pandak, Bambanglipuro, Srandakan, Pundong, and Sanden Districts. Mapping the spatial distribution of vulnerable group density can determine areas in Bantul Regency classified as highly vulnerable group density to be prioritized first, then medium to low vulnerable group density. Thus, this research can be helpful for Bantul Regency policymakers in carrying out earthquake disaster risk reduction programs for vulnerable groups referring to the results of spatial distribution maps, and it is hoped that this research can be implemented for other regions in Indonesia. Keywords: Spatial Distribution, Disaster-Vulnerable Groups, Bantul Regency.

Abstract

Java Island has experienced rapid development in Indonesia, with a dense population and a crucial role in the trade, industry, services, culture sectors, as well as being the nation's food basket. Its economic growth has been driven by high urbanization in recent decades, creating new growth centers and increasing the demand for infrastructure. However, urbanization also presents challenges such as the emergence of megaregions, urban bias, and regional disparities. This study aims to determine the development level of regencies/cities in Java Island and the spatial patterns of their development. The method used is quantitative descriptive analysis with scaling techniques, Moran's I, and LISA. The dimensions used include economy, social, infrastructure and services, environmental, and ICT, consisting of 15 variables. The results show that in 2022, 31 regencies/cities on Java Island were classified as having a high level of development, 36 at a moderate level, and 52 at a low level. The regional development index on Java Island shows variations, where the economic and social dimensions are dominated by large cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, while regions with lower indexes are spread across East Java. The infrastructure and services, as well as the ICT dimensions, show significant disparities, with areas like the Thousand Islands excelling in infrastructure access, while Lebak Regency and Cimahi City face limitations. Most regencies/cities are still at a low level of regional development, requiring interventions to improve infrastructure, the economy, and the quality of life to achieve more equitable development. The emerging spatial patterns show clustering or positive autocorrelation around metropolitan areas. There is a need for equity strategies to reduce disparities between regions, especially those far from metropolitan or megaregion areas.

Abstract

Semarang Regency is one of the regions included in the administration of Central Java Province. Aspect of potential disaster always consider in a good development. Landslide hazard analysis is necessary for regional planners to mitigate the disaster in the development area. This paper examines landslide hazard mapping in Semarang Regency. The method used is a geographic information system with weighted overlay analysis. The parameters used to assess landslide hazard are rainfall, slope, geology, soil type, and land use. The scoring and weighting of each parameter are based on expert opinion obtained from published research with contex-tualization to the condition of the study area. The results show that 0.29% of the area is cate-gorized as a very high landslide hazard zone, 17.74% of the area is classified as a high land-slide hazard zone, 61.66% as a medium landslide hazard zone, 18.91% as a low landslide haz-ard zone and 1.40% as a very low zone. The results of this study can be used as a reference and consideration for future regional development in order to create a balance between envi-ronmental sustainability and growth.
