Abstract

This inla dance is unique in that the dancers who perform this inla dance must do what they usually call "SMS" which is Smile, Singing, and Passion. Many inla dance works now do not eliminate "SMS", but add embodiments of expressions of sadness, anger, crying, evil and so on. The concept of "SMS" is intended to provide happiness and provide positive energy for the audience. The purpose of this research is to find out the development of Inla dance. In addition, it is also to find out how the Inla dance functions in society. The source of this research data was obtained from literature study, collection of documents relating to the object of research, direct observations (active participation), video observations (passive participation), interviews and other sources to obtain data in the making of this paper. In this study the author also uses a sociological perspective based on the theory of functionalism by Talcot Parsons on Social Action Systems. The function of Inla dance in society is to be able to provide positive energy from the dance that is given. The positive energy that comes from the SMS concept that is brought from each Inla dance. Inla dance also has cultures that are different from dance in general. One of them is recommended to be vegetarian. Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji potensi peningkatan makna dan pesan dalam Gurindam Dua Belas, karya sastra klasik Melayu, melalui seni pertunjukan, khususnya tari. Gurindam Dua Belas tidak hanya merupakan warisan budaya, tetapi juga sumber nilai yang relevan bagi kehidupan modern. Dengan seni pertunjukan sebagai medium, penelitian ini bertujuan menghidupkan kembali pesan moral dan etika yang terdapat dalam teks. Analisis awal mengungkapkan nilai-nilai etis yang terkandung, dan selanjutnya, penelitian ini mengeksplorasi adaptasi teks ke dalam seni pertunjukan melalui ekspresi wajah, gerakan tubuh, dan elemen visual untuk menyampaikan makna secara lebih mendalam.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk membahas makna nilai hidup manusia pada Gurindam Dua Belas dalam Seni Pertunjukan karya tari Seri Petua.  Metode penelitian yang digunakan kualitatif, melibatkan observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi, dengan penerapan teori hermeneutika. Hasil penelitian menyoroti makna Gurindam Dua Belas yang termanifestasi dalam seni pertunjukan tari, diantaranya makna nilai hidup hubungan manusia dengan penciptanya, dirinya sendiri, dan orang lain. Kesimpulannya, penelitian ini berhasil mendemonstrasikan potensi pengayaan dan pemahaman yang lebih dalam terhadap Gurindam Dua Belas melalui medium seni pertunjukan tari. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga memberikan kontribusi signifikan dalam dunia pendidikan, dengan menawarkan cara baru untuk mengajarkan nilai-nilai etika dan moral yang terkandung dalam karya sastra klasik kepada generasi muda, sehingga dapat lebih mudah dipahami dan diaplikasikan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari.Kata kunci: Gurindam Dua Belas, makna, seni pertunjukan, tari Meaning of human life values in Gurindam Dua Belas through the dance performance Seri Petua AbstractThis study examines the potential enhancement of meaning and messages in Gurindam Dua Belas, a classical Malay literary work, through performing arts, specifically dance. Gurindam Dua Belas is not only a cultural heritage but also a source of values relevant to modern life. Using performing arts as a medium, this research aims to revive the moral and ethical messages contained in the text. An initial analysis reveals the ethical values embedded within, and subsequently, the study explores the adaptation of the text into performance art through facial expressions, body movements, and visual elements to convey meaning more deeply. The purpose of this research is to discuss the meaning of human life values in Gurindam Dua Belas within the dance performance "Karya Tari Seri Petua." The research method employed is qualitative, involving observation, interviews, and documentation, applying hermeneutic theory. The findings highlight the meaning of Gurindam Dua Belas as manifested in dance performances, including the significance of the human relationship with the Creator, oneself, and others. In conclusion, this study successfully demonstrates the potential for enrichment and a deeper understanding of Gurindam Dua Belas through the medium of dance performance. Additionally, this research provides significant contributions to the field of education by offering a new way to teach the ethical and moral values contained in classical literary works to younger generations, making them easier to understand and apply in everyday life.Keywords: Gurindam Dua Belas, meaning, performing arts, dance

Abstract

The Seri Fatwa dance inspired work by Malay literature, namely Gurindam Dua Belas, created by Raja Ali Haji. The contents of Gurindam Dua Belas consist of twelve chapters with moral messages for human life. This work began with the concept of a solo dance danced by Rezky Gustian Asra, then underwent renewal in the creative process of creating a group dance consisting of three dancers which became a new form of presentation. The embodiment of this group dance form was created for performances at the Siak Bermadah Riau Festival, then continued with the Bangka Season of Arts Festival, the Batam Kenduri Melayu Arts Festival and represented Indonesia in performances at the 2023 MAPEH conference at Suphanburi College of Dramatic Arts, Thailand. The journey of this dance work aims to bring Malay culture in the promotion and education of one of the Malay literary works, namely Gurindam 12. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive analysis method, where the author carries out an analysis process from video documentation sources of performances, interviews and artistic reviews of works. This paper reviews the creative work process in creating and presenting Fatwa Series dance works.

Abstract

Geratri Festival di Batam merupakan inisiatif dari Beatus Finis Creative, menjadi wadah penting untuk mengapresiasi seni pertunjukan di tengah perkembangan seni di Kota Batam. Dalam konteks kebutuhan ruang apresiasi seni tari di Batam, festival ini membangun sinergi antara pelaku seni tari berpengalaman dan pendatang baru, menggabungkan tari tradisi, kreativitas modern, dan pemahaman mendalam terhadap seni budaya. Program Bincang Seni Santai memberikan kontribusi pada pendidikan dan pengembangan pengetahuan seni pertunjukan di Batam. Artikel ini menyoroti peran kunci manajemen seni dalam kesuksesan Geratri Festival sebagai wujud perayaan Hari Tari Dunia. Artikel ini mengungkapkan bahwa manajemen seni berperan penting dalam mengkoordinasikan pengelolaan Geratri Festival demi membangun ekosistem seni lokal. Melalui metode kualitatif, termasuk pengamatan langsung, wawancara, dan dokumentasi, penelitian ini mengeksplorasi kontribusi Geratri Festival pada pengembangan seni di Batam. Temuan penelitian menggarisbawahi peran manajemen seni dan dampak Geratri Festival pada pertumbuhan ekosistem seni di Kota Batam, serta memperhatikan peran institusi pendidikan dalam membangun dan memelihara festival seni di kota ini. The Role of Arts Governance in Geratri Festival as a Platform to Build the Arts Ecosystem in Batam City ABSTRACT The Geratri Festival in Batam is an initiative by Beatus Finis Creative, serving as a crucial platform to appreciate performing arts amidst the evolving artistic scene in Batam City. Addressing the need for a space to appreciate dance in Batam, the festival fosters collaboration between experienced and emerging dance artists, blending traditional dance, modern creativity, and a profound understanding of cultural art. The 'Bincang Seni Santai' program contributes to the education and development of performing arts knowledge in Batam. This article highlights the key role of arts management in the success of the Geratri Festival as a celebration of World Dance Day. It reveals that arts management is vital in coordinating Geratri Festival operations to build the local arts ecosystem. This research explores the Geratri Festival's contribution to developing the arts in Batam using qualitative methods, including direct observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings underscore the role of Arts Governance and the impact of the Geratri Festival on the growth of the arts ecosystem in Batam, also emphasizing the role of educational institutions in establishing and sustaining art festivals in the city.
