Abstract

Abstract: This study is qualitative study and focus on the sociolinguistics which studying language and society of a certain community. The emphasis of this study is discourse community. The discourse community must have all these qualities or it is not a discourse community. Swales definition sets a professional tone to the term discourse community, a central community in Oliver Twist , that is Pickpocket community. Thus, this study aiming to analyze further about the pickpocket discourse community seen in Oliver Twist movie based on the six characteristics of discourse community defined by Swales. Abstract

The objective is to determine how picture sequences can be implemented to enhance twenty three students’ narrative writing one st-semester Informatics students in Panca Marga University Probolinggo. This research is performed in two cycles. Qualitative data are obtained from observation checklists, field notes, and questionnaires. At the same time, quantitative data are gained from the product of students’ narrative writing. The research shows that using picture sequences can improve students’ narrative writing. The scoring rubrics are Level one = Poor, two Fair, three=Good, and  four=Excellent. It is considered a success if sixty five percent of the students reach level three or more. In the preliminary study, thirty five percent of students reached level three or more. After cycle two, seventy eight percent of students reach level three or more. It indicates that picture sequences can improve students’ narrative writing.

Abstract

Uji komparasi mesin bakar bervolume 110 cc dengan mesin bakar bervolume 125 cc telah dilakukan. Bahan bakar yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah jenis pertamax turbo. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbandingan yang terjadi pada mesin bakar bervolume berbeda dengan menggunakan bahan bakar yang sama. Metode yang digunakan adalah menganalisa nilai daya tertinggi pada masing-masing mesin bakar pada putaran mesin. Penelitian ini memberikan hasil bahwa daya terbesar pada masing-masing mesin bakar yang diuji terletak pada putaran 7000 rpm, dengan mencapai 12 hp pada mesin bakar volume 110 cc serta 7,4 hp pada mesin bakar volume 125 cc. Hasil yang diperoleh adalah daya yang dihasilkan pada mesin bakar bervolume 110 cc lebih besar dibandingkan dengan mesin bakar bervolume 125 cc. Hal ini disebabkan volume yang bekerja pada mesin mempengaruhi jumlah beban pembakaran yang terjadi di mesin bakar

Abstract

Kegiatan "Aksi Lingkungan: Praktek Membuat Ecobrick di Sekolah Dasar" adalah inisiatif edukatif yang dirancang untuk meningkatkan kesadaran lingkungan di kalangan siswa Sekolah Dasar, khususnya kelas 2. Melalui kegiatan ini, siswa diperkenalkan pada konsep ecobrick sebagai solusi inovatif dalam pengelolaan sampah plastik. Kegiatan ini melibatkan 26 siswa, yang tidak hanya mempelajari teori, tetapi juga mendapatkan pengalaman langsung dalam membuat ecobrick dari sampah plastik yang mereka kumpulkan. Proses ini mencakup pengenalan konsep, demonstrasi pembuatan, dan sesi praktek kelompok. Selain itu, terdapat 2 guru pendamping yang berperan aktif dalam membimbing siswa selama proses pembuatan, serta memastikan setiap siswa memahami dan menguasai teknik yang diajarkan. Tujuan utama kegiatan ini adalah membekali siswa dengan keterampilan praktis dalam mendaur ulang plastik, meningkatkan pemahaman mereka tentang dampak negatif sampah plastik, serta mendorong sikap proaktif dalam menjaga kebersihan lingkungan. Setelah sesi edukasi dan praktek pembuatan ecobrick, hasil post-test menunjukkan peningkatan yang sangat mencolok, yaitu sekitar 85% siswa dapat menjawab dengan benar tentang langkah-langkah pembuatan ecobrick dan 90% memahami manfaat ecobrick bagi lingkungan. Peningkatan ini tidak hanya mencerminkan pemahaman yang lebih baik terhadap materi yang diajarkan, tetapi juga menunjukkan efektivitas metode pembelajaran yang diterapkan dalam kegiatan ini. Environmental Action: Ecobrick Making Practice in Elementary School Abstract The "Environmental Action: Ecobrick Making Practice in Elementary School" activity is an educational initiative designed to raise environmental awareness among elementary school students, especially grade 2. Through this activity, students are introduced to the concept of ecobricks as an innovative solution in managing plastic waste. This activity involves 26 students, who not only learn the theory, but also gain hands-on experience in making ecobricks from the plastic waste they collect. This process includes an introduction to the concept, a demonstration of making, and a group practice session. In addition, there are 2 accompanying teachers who play an active role in guiding students during the making process, as well as ensuring that each student understands and masters the techniques taught. The main objectives of this activity are to equip students with practical skills in recycling plastic, increase their understanding of the negative impacts of plastic waste, and encourage a proactive attitude in maintaining environmental cleanliness. After the educational session and practice of making ecobricks, the post-test results showed a very striking increase, namely around 85% of students were able to answer correctly about the steps for making ecobricks and 90% understood the benefits of ecobricks for the environment. This improvement not only reflects a better understanding of the material taught, but also shows the effectiveness of the learning methods applied in this activity.

Abstract

Motivation compensates the success of foreign language learning. It is induced by two essential types: instrumental and integrative motivation. This research focuses on describing the students’ instrumental and integrative motivation in learning English. Twenty-eight students of Electrical Engineering Department of University of Panca Marga Probolinggo were involved in this research. The data about the students’ motivation were collected using questionnaire. The questionnaire was divided into two major parts which were used to find out two types of motivational orientation, following Gardner and Lamberts’s motivational measure. The data obtained from the students’ motivation opinionnaire was computer coded and processed with the Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS). The students were asked to indicate on a five-point scale to show how important each reason was for their learning English as a foreign language. From the data analysis, the overall mean score of instrumental motivation was 4.11, while integrative motivation was 3.68. The result showed that electrical engineering students in Panca Marga University were more motivated instrumentally in learning English.

Abstract

Papan skor merupakan perangkat yang umum digunakan dalam berbagai acara olahraga dan kompetisi untuk menampilkan skor dan waktu secara real-time. Papan skor tradisional sering mengandalkan sistem mekanik atau elektronik sederhana untuk menampilkan skor dan waktu. Namun, papan skor tradisional ini mempunyai beberapa kelemahan dalam hal akurasi, keandalan, dan kemampuan tampilan yang terbatas. Untuk mengatasi kendala ini, penggunaan IC digital 74192 sebagai inti dari papan skor digital diusulkan. IC digital 74192 adalah suatu chip yang terdiri dari berbagai komponen elektronik. Dalam pengembangan papan skor berbasis IC digital 74192, modul-modul ini diintegrasikan dengan sistem kontrol mikroprosesor yang dapat diprogram, sehingga menghasilkan pengaturan dan tampilan yang lebih fleksibel dan interaktif. Artikel ini akan membahas tentang  pengembangan papan skor berbasis IC digital 74192.
