Abstract

This research was conducted because of the import prohibition phenomenon by the President of the Republic of Indonesia (RI), Joko Widodo, who stated that asphalt imports would stop in 2024. This phenomenon is fascinating because Indonesia also has a significant demand for asphalt compared to production. This phenomenon also impacts PT Pertamina MOR VI, a state-owned company involved in the asphalt business. This research was conducted to determine the strategy of PT Pertamina Marketing Operation Region (MOR) VI to deal with this phenomenon. Research data was collected through an interview process. The results obtained from the interview show that the first strategy implemented was to increase the limitations of the asphalt refinery at the Pertamina Refinery Unit IV and asphalt production on Buton Island. After overcoming production limitations, PT Pertamina MOR VI focused on setting national product prices based on the Argus Asphalt Index, Opex, and sales margins to compete with global asphalt prices and competitors. The final strategy is how PT Pertamina MOR VI maintains and increases its asphalt marketing market share among agents. These three strategies effectively overcome the effect of asphalt import prohibition in 2024.

Abstract

Studies highlight particular concern about the work readiness of university graduates, which potentially leads to many undesirable outcomes, such as rising unemployment rates and low productivity levels in the workplace. This study aims to explore the differences between student organization and work experiences and further analyze student organization’s contribution to graduate’s work readiness. This research uses a qualitative approach with phenomenological methods, and the data is analyzed with thematic data analysis. Data were collected through interviews involving 15 recent graduates actively involved in student organizations and just starting their careers. The study also interviewed two more senior workers to serve as source triangulation, strengthening the validity of the collected data. The study found four key differences between student organizations and the world of work. These differences include primary orientation, feedback and reward system, hierarchical structure, and interaction experiences. The findings also indicate that student organization experiences enhance individual skill development, which later proves helpful in work life. In particular, student organizational experience significantly advances these skills: leadership, time management, self-confidence, problem-solving, integrity, critical thinking, communication, negotiation, teamwork, responsibility, and commitment. Additionally, the record of student organizational participation listed on curriculum vitae can be a valuable asset for recent graduates, enhancing their employment prospects.

Abstract

Religion and work motivation have been acknowledged as critical factors affecting workplace behaviors. While many studies have juxtaposed these two variables, the effort to really explore the connection between these factors is almost non-existent. Exploring the interconnection of these two factors is arguably essential either to understand workplace behavior to a greater extent or to enhance the sensemaking of religion–work motivation comprehension. The cross-sectional analysis involving 928 respondents from various religious affiliations suggests the linearity of religion–work motivation pairs. The present study concludes that intrinsic religiosity aligns with both identified regulation and intrinsic motivation; extrinsic religiosity–social aligns with extrinsic regulation–social; and extrinsic religiosity–personal aligns with introjected regulation.
