Abstract

Gunungkidul Regency is known to have diverse agricultural potential, including cocoa, which is one of the leading plantation crops in this area. This research aims to determine the production base and area of cocoa plantations in Gunungkidul Regency. The data used in this research includes land area and cocoa production over the last five years, obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and related agencies. Location Quotient (LQ) analysis determines the cocoa crop base based on land area and production in Gunungkidul Regency. Based on the results of research on determining land area and production bases, it is known that there are three (3) sub-districts (Ponjong, Karangmojo, Patuk) in the Gunungkidul region whose LQ value is more than one (>1). There are three (3) sub-districts (Nglipar, Playen, Gendangsari) with LQ results of less than one (<1). The research results show that cocoa plants have the potential to continue to be developed in Gunungkidul, with the need to increase production efficiency and more intensive policy support

Abstract

Cocoa is an annual crop which is one of the leading commodities in the plantation sector, and is a source of livelihood for the community. The research objectives were to determine 1) production factors that influence organic cocoa production 2) production efficiency of organic cocoa farming in Putat Village, Patuk District. The research was conducted using a survey method using questionnaires on 30 cocoa farmers. The analysis model used is Cobb Douglas Linear Regression. The research results show that the land area factor has a significant effect on cocoa production, while fertilizer, plant age and labor have no significant effect on cocoa production. The efficiency of production factors is > 1, indicating that cocoa farming is not yet efficient.

Abstract

Natural rubber constitutes a significant sector within the Indonesian economy, serving as a notable source of foreign exchange through exports. Recent data indicate a decline in Indonesian rubber exports from 2018 to 2022. This study aims to assess the elasticity of supply alongside fluctuations in rubber prices in Indonesia. Employing secondary data from print and online publications provided by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and Gapkindo (Association of Indonesian Rubber Companies), the research spans a five-year period (2018-2022). The study applies technical analysis to evaluate the elasticity of natural rubber supply in relation to price changes. Findings reveal that the elasticity of rubber supply was elastic from 2018 to 2020, whereas it transitioned to inelastic from 2020 to 2022. This conclusion is drawn from both rubber export data and calculations of supply elasticity.
