Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of the Six Sigma method with the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) approach in reducing product defects and improving production quality at PG. XYZ. The main problem in sugar production is the high level of defects in the form of non-uniform sugar grains and non-uniform sugar color, which has an impact on decreasing efficiency and customer satisfaction. Defect data was analyzed using a control chart (P-Chart), DPMO value calculation, and sigma level to evaluate process stability. The results showed that the production process was not statistically stable, with an average defect rate of 3.65% and a sigma value at level 2.5. The main causes of defects were identified through Fishbone Diagram analysis and obtained from human, machine, method, material, and environmental factors. The proposed solutions include the creation of SOPs, operator training, machine calibration, and routine monitoring and audit systems. This study is expected to be a reference for other sugarcane processing industries in implementing the Six Sigma method to improve product quality and competitiveness.

Abstract

One phenomenon that often occurs in residential areas is the night market. Night markets offer lively and affordable entertainment for the community with various game rides such as carousels, Ferris wheels, and mini trains. The existence of various night market toys is certainly inseparable from the existence of manufacturing industries that produce night market toys and mini trains. One of the fairly large ones in Madiun is CV. XYZ, which is engaged in the manufacture, trade, services, supply, and sale of various kinds of mini trains and children's toys. Every industry certainly faces competition, so CV. XYZ is no different, so analysis is needed to determine the company's competitive position and the strategies needed to remain competitive with its competitors. SWOT analysis and the CPM matrix can be used so that companies can determine the right strategy in business competition and determine the company's competitive position. From the data that has been processed using the SWOT matrix, IE matrix, and CPM matrix, the results obtained are (-0,14 ; 0,375), which is in quadrant II supporting the Diversification strategy.

Abstract

PT. Linggarjati Mahardika Mulia is a company operating in the forestry sector located in Pacitan Regency, producing plywood with thicknesses ranging from 5mm, 8mm, 12mm, 15mm, 18mm. The subject of this research is the cause of waste in the hot press section of the pressing machine. The method used is Quality Filter Mapping because it is a relevant method for finding out the source of problems in the quality of the company's products. The results of this research showed that production in May with the highest percentage of plywood wastage occurred at a thickness of 15mm at 0.24% with a poor glue quality factor, and plywood with a thickness of 18mm at 0.24% for a damaged material factor. In June 2023, the highest wastage occurred in plywood with a thickness of 18mm at 0, 09% on the influencing factor is the quality of the glue is not good.
