Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyelidiki strategi komunikasi yang digunakan oleh penjual di dalam berkomunikasi dengan turis di pantai Lovina. Penelitian ini berbentuk deskriptif melibatkan qualitative dan quantitative analisis. Penelitian ini bertempat di pantai Lovina, kabupaten Buleleng. Objek dari penelitian ini adalah strategi komunikasi yang digunakan oleh penjual di pantai Lovina. Narasumber terdiri dari dua penjual. Dari hasil menunjukkan bahwa, ada delapan jenis strategi komunikasi yang digunakan oleh penjual di pantai Lovina. Jenis strategi komunikasi tersebut adalah approximation, foreignizing, code switching, code-based confirmation check, omission, topic avoidance, message abandonment, dan circumlocution. Jenis strategi komunikasi yang paling sering digunakan adalah approximation. Hasil penelitian ini juga menunjukkan bahwa ada dua alasan utama mengapa para penjual menggunakan strategi komunikasi ketika mereka berkomunikasi dengan para turis.Kata Kunci : strategi komunikasi, penjual, orang asing This study aimed to investigate the communication strategies used by shop keepers in communicating with tourists in Lovina Beach. The study was in the form of a descriptive study involving qualitative and quantitative analysis. The study was conducted in Lovina beach, Buleleng regency. The objects of this study were communication strategies used by shop keepers in Lovina Beach. The informants of this study were two shop keepers. The result of analysis showed that there were eight types of communication strategies applied by the shop keepers in Lovina beach. Those types of communication strategies were approximation, foreignizing, code switching, code-based confirmation check, omission, topic avoidance, message abandonment, and circumlocution. The type of communication strategy used most frequently was approximation. The result of the study also showed that there were two main reasons why the shop keepers applied the communication strategies when they communicated with the tourists.keyword : communication strategies, shop keepers, foreigners
