Abstract

Abstract. Emerging adulthood is marked by the stage of experiencing intimacy vs isolation where they need to establish intimate relationships with their surroundings. Failure in establishing close relationships with those around him can make they feel lonely and will experience a variety of negative emotions. Emotion regulation is one way for individuals to control the emotions. Research on loneliness and emotion regulation needs to be studied further because there is a lot of focus on elderly subjects. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between loneliness and emotion regulation including cognitive reappraisal and expressive suppression on early adulthood individuals. The research was conducted using a quantitative method with a correlational design. Participants in this study are 138 people with an age range of 18-25 years. Researchers used the convenience sampling method and used the third version of the UCLA Loneliness Scale and the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ). Data were analyzed using Pearson's correlation to examine the correlation between the two variables. The results showed that loneliness in early adulthood was correlated with expressive suppression (r = 0.35, n = 138, p 0.05, two-tailed). Early adulthood individuals tend to use expressive suppression as an emotion regulation strategy when experiencing loneliness. Meanwhile, loneliness did not correlate with cognitive reappraisal because it is suspected that individuals tend to have good well-being  (r = 0.05, n = 138, p 0.05, two-tailed). Future research can examine other factors that can influence the relationship between the two variables in early adulthood.

Abstract

Cash on Delivery (COD) is one of the frequently utilized payment methods in Indonesian e-commerce, enabling buyers to settle payments for purchased goods upon their arrival at the designated address. However, the limited comprehension among the public regarding the COD mechanism gives rise to various legal predicaments, encompassing both criminal and civil aspects. This research endeavors to ascertain the psychological state of logistics partners who fall victim to consumers misconstruing the COD process, the legal quandaries prompted by COD, and legal remedies to these issues. Employing the normative juridical method with a statutory approach, supplemented by concepts, cases, and interviews, this study finds that, according to the Job Stress Scale measuring instrument, couriers experiencing a substantial volume of daily COD deliveries endure significant stress levels at 58.5%. The stress among couriers emanates from rampant instances of legal transgressions associated with COD, encompassing both criminal and civil domains. Consequently, addressing this challenge necessitates the provision of alternative payment modes such as bank transfers, digital wallets, or installment payments. Furthermore, the establishment of specialized COD regulations is imperative to mitigate the likelihood of similar occurrences in the future.

Abstract

Indonesian students studying abroad often face various challenges during their adaptation process, which can lead to acculturative stress. Psychological hardiness is a key factor that may help reduce this stress. It is a personality trait that enables individuals to cope with stress by viewing challenges as opportunities for growth and maintaining commitment and control in difficult situations. This study aimed to examine the relationship between psychological hardiness and acculturative stress among Indonesian students abroad. A quantitative method with correlational analysis was used, involving 140 Indonesian students who had been studying abroad for no more than two years as of October 2024. Data were collected using the Hardiness Scale and the Acculturative Stress Scale for International Students (ASSIS). The results revealed a negative correlation (-.313) between psychological hardiness and acculturative stress. Specifically, the control (-.358) and challenge (-.321) dimensions of psychological hardiness were also negatively correlated with acculturative stress. These findings suggest that students with higher psychological hardiness perceive themselves as capable of managing their environment and see change as a positive experience, which reduces stress. Future research is recommended to further explore the role of psychological hardiness in reducing acculturative stress among international students.
