Abstract

Teaching English needs appropriate syllabus in each course. Writing course is one of courses that has great influence in composing article. Enabling undergraduate students to write in English needs well-organized and appropriate plan that students have no problem in writing. Han (2013) highlights the importance of thesis writing on both teachers and students by proving the use of Slade’s step to solve students’ problem in writing each part of thesis. The purpose of the study is to design topics in Scientific Writing syllabus for undergraduate students in composing research article. This study implemented DDR with qualitative method. In designing syllabus, ADDIE model of Dick and Carey (2015) is used. The result indicates there are five significant topics in designing Scientific Writing syllabus. Those topics are designed by concerning undergraduate students’ problem that ease them in research article writing.

Abstract

Kemajuan teknologi memberi dampak signifikan terhadap dunia pendidikan. Dampak tersebut terbukti dengan munculnya model pembelajaran blended learning yang merupakan penggabungan dari dua pola kegiatan pembelajaran. Penggabungan kedua pola tersebut dimaksudkan untuk saling melengkapi kelemahan masing-masing. Model pembelajaran blended learning menyediakan banyak manfaat dan kemudahan sehingga diprediksi akan menjadi trend model pembelajaran di masa mendatang. Prediksi tersebut didukung oleh kelebihan penerapan blended learning ketika dibandingkan dengan e-learning. Penelitian ini melakukan penerapan model pembelajaran blended learning di MTs. Ma’arif NU Mambaul Khoirot dengan menggunakan tahapan model ADDIE. Model tersebut terdiri dari lima tahapan yang merupakan kepanjangan dari lima huruf pada model tersebut. Kelima tahapan tersebut memiliki fase kegiatan berbeda-beda di tiap tahapannya. Masing-masing tahapan tersebut terintegrasi dan saling melengkapi. Melalui model ADDIE, penerapan kegiatan pembelajaran blended learning terbukti dapat diaplikasikan kepada peserta didk tingakat menengah pertama, khususnya dalam pengajarana menulis teks deskriptif.

Abstract

Discourse analysis is one of linguistics branches that concerns in language use. Discourse can be written and spoken. Written discourse can be found in students’ writing, especially in writing report text. In term, moves analysis is applied to recognize the rhetorical composition of text. The researchers want to describe the phenomenon deals with the students’ moves in writing, especially in report text. Research design used in this research is descriptive qualitative research. The result shows that there were fourteen data that used the two moves patterns. Most students used this pattern to present information about something to the readers. Their texts dealt with social phenomena in people environment, mainly: animal. Actually, students used the first move pattern that was in line with the generic structure of report text, such as: general classification and description. In this term, general classification dealt with the phenomenon. Whereas, description related with two terms, such as: parts and habits or behavior. In sum, there are two students’ moves in writing, mainly: general classification and description.
