Abstract

Indonesia and Malaysia has a long relationship politically, economically, and culturally. Soybean import from the United States decreased while from Malaysia increased in 2012-2016. This research described reasons of Indonesia to do import from Malaysia than from the other countries.This qualitative research inquired the interests of both countries to strengthen economic relationship for import-export. To answer the phenomena data from books, journals, news from newspapers, and official documents from Indonesian Trade Ministry was utilized. Economic theory of liberalism from John Stuart Milland and Jean Jacques Rousseau help researcher in analysing the data.The research showed that Malaysian soybean is competitive in terms of price and quality. Stable soybean supply in Malaysia to Indonesian products for tofu, soya bean, ketchup, and any other foods could improve cooperation between the two countries. In addition political and cultural tied on D-8, Organization of Islamic Conference, and Non-Aligned Movement can tighten cooperation in soybean import.  Keywords: Importance, Import, Soybean, Partnership

Abstract

Refugee and asylum seeker are big issues for human security. Conflicts in Venezuela forces many people to leave this country to seek better lives in their neighbor country, Brazil. The Brazilian government with Brazilian military and United Nations agencies to help those refugees. High number (48%) of refugees decision to integrate with local people by living in Brazil is interesting. This study examined the roles of those humanitarian organization to foster their decent live while in their estuary in Brazil.This qualitative research adopted pluralism perspectives and analyzed with international cooperation theory from Teuku May Rudy for its role as an actor. Data comes from books, journals, news from BBC and CNN, official documents of UNHCR, articles, and websites.The study showed the Brazilian government and its partners for plays several important roles to settle the problems. Refugees have three options: resettlement, local integration, and voluntary repatriation. Surprisingly 48% choose for local integration. The Brazilian government played initiator role by cooperating with Brazilian military and United Nations agencies to obtain enough funding. Abstract

The phenomenon of exploitation of child labour is a global  problem that still exists today. In Malawi, many children are involved  as child labourers. The majority of these child labourers work in the agricultural sector, especially in the tobacco sector.  The problem is because of the type of work that the children do, where the tobacco sector is ad dangerous environment for children. One of the factors that causes  the phenomenon of child labour is poverty.This study was written using the theory of international organizations, where the actor involved in this research problem is the International Labour Organization (ILO). This research was also investigated with qualitative research methods. The sources and data used by the author in this study are based on books, journals and other online literature such as reports, newspapers and articles on the ILO's official website.The problem of child labour certainly requires attention from the Government, Non-Governmental Organizations, and even International Organizations, if it is felt that the handling at the government level is not optimal. Therefore, the ILO, as an international labour organization, is here to address this issue. From the results of this study, several contributions that have been made by the ILO are by collaborating with the Japan Tobacco International (JTI) company, to create an educational program, namely ARISE. Another contribution is to hold a Training of Trainers program, which aims to educate the farmers about the management of savings and loan cooperatives there.Key Words: International Organizations, ILO, Child Labour, Tobacco

Abstract

Tuna is one of the prospective fishery commodity for exports due to high demand in the international market. However, European Union as the main buyer demand its imports to comply with Council Regulation. This tariff and non-tariff barriers on Indonesia can cause a decline for the exports. To maintain its market Indonesia should find ways since Germany is the fourth largest tuna importer in the world. Efforts by Indonesian government to maintain tuna exports to Germany will be described in this study.This research uses descriptive qualitative method. The perspective used by the author in this thesis is the perspective of liberalism with the level of nation state analysis, and the theory used is the theory of international trade. To analyze this case, the authors collected data from books, journals, websites, dictionaries, as well as various information from the EUR-Lex, the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of the Republic of Indonesia and the Association of Pole and Line & Handline Indonesia (AP2HI) regarding Indonesia's efforts to increase fish exports tuna to Germany.The results of this study indicate that Indonesia seeks to increase tuna exports to Germany by lobbying with the European Union regarding reducing tuna export tariffs, improving quality and cleanliness in the management of Indonesian tuna, and eradicating illegal fishing. Indonesia is still working on increasing tuna exports to Germany. Although there has not been an increase in the export value, there has been an increase in the quality of tuna so that it can increase the confidence of the European Union, especially Germany, in Indonesian tuna.Keywords: Effort, Tariff Barriers, Non-Tariff Barriers, Tuna, Exports, International Trade

Abstract

Prior to the growth of digitalization globally, the value of bitcoin was less fascinated and unpopular. In the first of bitcoin trials, it was use by a person in America who went to Papa’s John Pizza and he used more than a thousand coins to purchase a slice of it. But nowadays, bitcoin knowns as the most luxurious things in the world. The bitcoin appearances had caught many attentions, including China government. This research would explained how bitcoin existence could impact monetary policy in China.Discussion arranged with neo-liberalism perspective and social networking theory, together with qualitative methodology and data collection method such as observation, documents and reports. The researcher also used analysis from different sources including books, journal, website, newspaper and mass media. The states actor played important role toward this research.The results showed the China’s detention through their policy to bitcoin existence by closed the exchange building, realization of the Yuan digital project, and increased cooperation between the government and local company toward digital money. The government’s strategy seems effective to detained bitcoin movement. This plans also reduction the Chinese intensity to deal with bitcoin. Also, the Chinese government endeavour towards digital yuan development aims to improve their monetary stabilization and achieve the national goals.  Keyword: Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto, Digital Money, China Government, Monetary Policy.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the role of the OSCE as an international organization that has the task of maintaining security and peace in the country of Ukraine which is experiencing a prolonged conflict, especially in the East Ukraine region. The conflict in Ukraine began after the fall of Ukrainian President Victor Yanucovych who was pro-Russian in 2014 which prompted Russia to illegally annex Crimea and was then followed by armed conflict between Pro-Russian separatists and Pro-Government parties. This conflict is getting bigger and longer because Russia provides support to the rebels and separatists. And this attracts the OSCE to play a role in resolving and reducing conflicts that occur. This research is analyzed with the perspective of neorealism which believes that the state is the dominant actor but does not rule out the role of non-state actors. This research is also guided by the role theory and concept of Security. The method used is a qualitative method with a descriptive model. The technique of collecting data in this research is through literature study from several journals, books, documents and websites.This study shows the results of the roles performed by the OSCE in dealing with the conflict in Ukraine. The participation of the OSCE's efforts are in the form of negotiations, holding conferences, forming a charter of agreements, sending special monitoring missions to monitor the dynamics of the conflict, supervising the presidential election as well as weapons and missions to assess human rights and minorities during the conflict. The forms of roles that the OSCE has carried out in Ukraine have worked well, although they cannot stop the conflict from continuing.Keywords: Ukraine, OSCE, Conflict, Crimea and Russia.

Abstract

Illegal trade is an important issue in Indonesia. One form of illegal trade is the existence of the used clothing trade. Bengkalis Regency, which is an area that interacts directly with Malaysia and is a cross-border location of the Malacca Strait, has the potential for various violations such as clothing smuggling, which is considered to be disturbing the national industry.The theory used in this research is the Mercantilism approach using protectionism theory, where the state tries to protect the domestic economy through various policies issued in accordance with the results of the 2015 Analysis Report on the Import of Used Clothes by the Indonesian Ministry of Trade. The research method used in this study is a qualitative research method with research data collection techniques, namely primary and secondary data. Through interview and observation techniques with semi-structured interview guidelines with the participants conducted for 2 months.The results of research found that trade in used clothes across national borders does not always have a negative impact on a country, but can actually have many positive impacts, especially for local communities in border areas. Positive economic impacts for sellers and owners of the sewing industry, positive social impacts for buyers, as well as positive and negative impacts on environmental aspects.  Keywords: Used Clothes, Smuggling, Cross-border, Government Policy.
