Abstract

The aerodynamic design of a vehicle body plays a critical role in reducing air resistance (drag), thereby contributing to improved fuel efficiency. Aerodynamic resistance in vehicles is influenced by several parameters, including body geometry, auxiliary elements, and the orientation of the vehicle relative to the airflow. This study aims to analyze the effects of body shape variations and the addition of a spoiler on drag force reduction in a sedan-type vehicle. The methodology employed in this research is numerical simulation using Ansys Fluent software. Simulation results indicate that the model with a more streamlined geometry (Model C) produces a lower drag force compared to the model equipped with a spoiler. The drag coefficients obtained for each configuration are as follows: Sedan A — 0.780, Sedan B with a spoiler — 0.775, and Sedan C with an improved body geometry — 0.647. These findings suggest that optimizing body shape is more effective in enhancing the aerodynamic performance of a vehicle than the addition of external aerodynamic elements such as a spoiler.

Abstract

This research was conducted on MSMEs that produce shoes and the like. Some production processes are carried out manually, which has an impact on employee occupational health. The uppersole installation process takes a long time with manual work which is certainly less effective because the position of the shoe changes and produces many unnecessary movements to position the shoe, impacting the condition of workers who experience several complaints such as pain in the thighs, back, and hands. This study aims to design a work aid for installing shoe uppersoles so that they can work effectively and avoid fatigue due to work positions. The design was carried out using the NIDA method. The results of the fixture design show that the fixture is able to withstand 12 directions of object movement, so that the processed upper sole can be maintained in a stationary state and no longer requires repeated positioning efforts. The results of this design can simplify the work process from previously 19 processes with a total time of 62 minutes to 15 processes with a total time of 54 minutes.

Abstract

Metaheuristic algorithm is a state of the art optimization method which suitable for solving large and complex problem. Single solution technique – Smetaheuristic is one of metaheuristic algorithm that search near optimal solution and known as exploitation based. The research conducted to seek a better solution for deliverying goods to 29 destinations by comparing two well known optimization methods that can produce the shortest distance: Simulated Annealing (SA) and Tabu Search (TS). The result shows that TS – 107 KM has a shorter distance than SA – 119 KM. Exploration based method should be conducted for next research to produce information in which one is a better method

Abstract

PT KALBE FARMA TBK is one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in Indonesia. The obstacle faced by the company is the waste of set up time in the area of the drug printing process, especially solid preparations. This study aims to reduce the set up time between batches by using the SMED method. The method used in data collection is by direct observation in the field. The data processing method is carried out by conducting data adequacy test and data uniformity test, then calculating the average time for the set up time between batches. The research shows that when setting up between batches there are 12 activities that must be done by the operator with an average set up time of 106.00 minutes. After implementing SMED and Improvement, it can be minimized to 7 activities with a total set-up time of 51.75 minutes on average. So that there was a decrease in the set up time of 54.25 minutes.
