Abstract

This report investigates the importance of creating a realistic environment in order to create an immersive world in digital games. The discussion will start from the history of Digital game development until now, discussing on the limitations of gaming consoles from time to time, and how game designers nowadays keep pushing the boundaries of the visual aspects of their game. Then focusing the discussion on the technical and art aspect of digital game design. By doing the analysis in this report, we can conclude that there are several reason that affects the visual quality of video games, such as the technology of the game console, the limitation of game engine, and also the skill of the game artist itself. Key words : Video Games, Digital Games, Game Console, Environment, Game Engine.

Abstract

Light, Everything we currently, ever, or will see in the world, the fact is due to the presence of light. without light there is no color, shape, and of course we cannot distinguish the material, distance, and the nature of the object when not it’s not illuminated by light. Therefore the author felt it is important to discuss about lighting, especially for applications in the author’s field of interest, 3D Animation. In this journal, will be found an alternative to a more efficient way to do lighting and rendering in 3D animation projects using a variety of theories and basic knowledge of light. Abstract

This paper explains the process of constructing visual narration history of 19th century Sulawesi Sea region. It is visualized through storyboard and animatic, as a guidance for short animated film. it is focused on selecting process of the history content and how to visualize it. Literature studies, observasion and interpretation is chosen as the main method of the research. The result is a sequence of event which visualized through storyboard and animatic. Abstract

Visual Effect can be used to enhance storytelling in the filmmaking process. The Visual Effects technology itself already has grown to become faster and better in production. However, in the Visual Effects Department, the artist needs digital props to show what’s on the screen. Therefore, this study seeks to create props for Visual Effects needs. This present study describes how to create believable props for visual effects needs in a short film called “Mie Medan”. It concludes that to create a visual effect props, we have to consider to create real-scale and proportion in each set and props to gain believability in film, the hue, and saturation of the color and texture itself will gain more realistic and sense of flavor to the film.
