Abstract

This paper explains the process of constructing visual narration history of 19th century Sulawesi Sea region. It is visualized through storyboard and animatic, as a guidance for short animated film. it is focused on selecting process of the history content and how to visualize it. Literature studies, observasion and interpretation is chosen as the main method of the research. The result is a sequence of event which visualized through storyboard and animatic. Abstract

Industri animasi merupakan sebuah industri yang belum banyak dikenal Indonesia, meskipun medium animasi sendiri sebetulnya bukanlah medium baru di Indo- nesia. Tidak seperti profil industri lainnya yang biasanya bersifat massal, industri animasi memiliki karakteristik yang unik yaitu padat karya. Kehadiran teknologi canggih pada industri ini tidak dapat menggantikan peran manusia di dalamnya. Tulisan ini membahas profil industri animasi di Indonesia yang cukup unik yaitu mempekerjakan sedikit karyawan purnawaktu (fulltime), namun pada saat mengerjakan produksi dalam skala besar, mereka mempekerjakan pekerja lepas atau freelancer dalam jumlah besar. Tulisan ini mengkombinasikan data primer yang didapat dari wawancara dengan penggiat studio animasi dan pekerja lepas animasi di Bandung. Data sekunder didapat dari tinjauan pustaka mengenai sistem produksi animasi dan tulisan tinjauan dari asosiasi animasi di Indonesia industri animasi di Asia Tenggara dan Eropa. Hasil dari tulisan ini berupa deskripsi dan tinjauan industri animasi di Indonesia yang ternyata tidak bisa dilepaskan dari pekerja lepas animasi, yang justru ternyata memiliki peran penting dalam sistem produksi industri.

Abstract

This article aims to trace the surrealism style in Indonesia through literature. The literature studies are done in two phases, aiming at different goals. In the first phase, we accessed literature collections about Surrealism through Modern Art frameworks and context. In the second phase, we used two online directories that index open access journals; DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals) and Garuda (Garba Rujukan Digital). The result is a list of analyses on how the Surrealism discussion appears through the Indonesian language journal articles. Through the list of findings, we also try to determine our upcoming research. We will try to expand surrealism discussion through moving image medium in Indonesia. Abstract

This paper explores the ethical integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in animation studies, focusing on empowering undergraduate students as lifelong learners. The research aims to provide practical guidance for undergraduate animation students to ethically integrate AI technologies into their learning and creative processes while fostering responsible decision-making and promoting the preservation of human creativity. The study employs a desk research methodology, gathering and analyzing relevant literature and scholarly sources in AI ethics and animation studies. The main findings of the research highlight the importance of critical thinking and responsible decision-making when incorporating AI tools into the creative process. It emphasizes addressing ethical challenges such as authorship, bias, transparency, and appropriation in utilizing AI technologies. The research also delves into the ethical implications of generative AI, including considerations of originality and the balance between human creativity and AI capabilities. The implications of the research findings underscore the significance of lifelong learning and adaptability for undergraduate students to keep pace with AI advancements and ensure ongoing ethical development as creators and innovators in animation. By promoting the ethical integration of AI technologies, students can navigate the challenges of AI utilization while preserving the integrity of their creative expression. The research contributes to understanding ethical considerations in integrating AI in animation studies. It provides practical insights for students and educators in fostering responsible and innovative use of AI technologies.
