Abstract

Introduction. Methods.  Pendekatan Cross-sectional digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Sampel yang digunakan berjumlah 94 remaja. Data diambil dengan cara  memberikan kuesioner demografi, inform conscent, the Perceived Social Support from Friend (PSS-Fr) Scale dan The Brief Resilience Scale (BRS). Data di proses dengan statistik dekriptif dan dianalisis menggunakan Spearman's rho, menggunkan software SPSS. Results. Usia rata-rata remaja dalam studi ini adalah 14 tahun. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa ada korelasi positif antara dukungan sosial teman sebaya dengan ketahanan psikologis remaja (p < 0.05).  Conclusion.

Abstract

Aims: Video-based learning as a preparatory method for nasogastric tube feeding is prevalent among nursing students. Interestingly, there is a growing interest in incorporating immersive virtual reality (IVR) simulators into educational practices. Aims of this study to examine the effect of an IVR on nasogastric tube feeding skills and self-efficacy among nursing students. Methods: A quasi experimental study with trial two-arm. 108 nursing students were recruited from two universities in Central Java. The IVR group (n=54) received nasogastric tube feeding skill practice through IVR, whereas the control group (n=54) watched a 15-minute video. Both groups received online nasogastric tube feeding lectures. The outcomes were nasogastric tube feeding skills and self-efficacy, with evaluated immediately before and after interventions. The Chi-square test, and independent t-test were employed. Results: The results indicated a considerable improvement in nasogastric tube feeding skills in the IVR and the video groups, with significant differences found between the two groups. Additionally, the group that utilized IVR demonstrated higher scores in self-efficacy compared to the group that used video, with statistically significant differences reported between the two groups. Conclusion: The IVR education and video enhanced the skills and self-efficacy. IVR can be recommended as an intervention to improve the quality of long-term education nursing care through technological advances.

Abstract

Aims: The basic core skill and competency nursing students need is urinary catheterization. Semi-immersive virtual reality (SIVR) based research innovations based on situational learning theory have not been widely used to improve student proficiency. This study aimed to analyze the skills, motivation, and satisfaction of nursing students with urinary catheterization learning before and after the implementation of SIVR. Methods: The study was designed as a pre-test and post-test randomized controlled trial (RCT). The study population was undergraduate nursing students at the Bhakti Wiyata Health Sciences Institute, Kediri. The SIVR group (n=52) received catheterization skill practice through SIVR, whereas the control group (n=52) was given 2-dimensional video learning. The results obtained were catheterization skills, motivation, and satisfaction, which were evaluated before and after the intervention. In this study's statistical test analysis, the chi-square test and the independent t-test were used. Results: Post-test results showed a significant improvement in catheterization skills in the SIVR group (M = 92.74, SD = 1.05, p = 0.032) compared to the control group (M = 79.95, SD = 1.51), a significant improvement in motivation in the SIVR group (M = 6.48, SD = 0.54, p = 0.010) compared to the control group (M = 5.23, SD = 0.49), and a significant improvement in satisfaction in the SIVR group (M = 3.49, SD = 0.83, p = 0.024) compared to the control group (M = 2.88, SD = 0.52). Conclusion: SIVR simulation and video learning can improve nursing students' skills, motivation, and satisfaction. SIVR program learning can be recommended as an intervention for the effectiveness of the quality of practical learning following current technological advances and in the long term it is expected to improve graduates' practical skills.

Abstract

Introduction: Frequent consumption of foods and drinks containing sugar and unhealthy lifestyles are an emergency problem for type 2 diabetes mellitus patients. In type 2 diabetes mellitus patients, unhealthy lifestyles and irregular diets cause disease complications resulting in frequent deaths. Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between diet and lifestyle adherence to blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Method: Correlational research design using a cross-sectional approach. This research was conducted for the period 1 November 2023 - 30 November 2023. The population in this study were patients diagnosed with T2DM at public health centers X and Y, in Kediri City. Sample measurements can use G Power with a power analysis effect size of 0.5, α err prob 0.05, power (0.95), and an increase in sample size of 20% to obtain a sample of 56 respondents. The sample selection technique was purposive sampling based on inclusion criteria, namely that the patient was willing to take part in the research until completion, the patient could read and write, and the patient was diagnosed with T2DM by a doctor at the public health centers X and Y, in Kediri City. The research statistical test used Spearmans Rho. Results: The relationship between diet and blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients showed that the majority of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients had poor diet patterns and blood sugar levels ≥ 126, namely 64.3%. The results of the analysis of the relationship between diet and blood sugar levels also showed a p-value of 0.001 < 0.05. The relationship between lifestyle and blood sugar levels in T2DM showed that the majority had poor lifestyles and blood sugar levels ≥ 126, namely 67.9%. The results of the analysis of the relationship between lifestyle and blood sugar levels also showed a p-value of 0.000 < 0.05. Conclusion: There is a relationship between diet and lifestyle on blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients. Suggestion: In T2DM patients, avoid eating foods and snacks that contain high sugar, and high fat, and control portion sizes to manage blood sugar levels. Do regular physical activity, according to your abilities and doctor's recommendations. Walking, cycling, and other sports can be good choices for controlling blood sugar.
