Abstract

This service aims to design and modify a cooking oil strainer that meets the needs of UMKM in Grogol Jombang Village to improve product quality. The main problem faced by partners is the limited capacity of the straining tool, which can only hold 2.5–5 kg per process, thereby hindering production efficiency. The method used is Participatory Action Research (PAR) through observation, discussion, design using software, and participatory evaluation with SME actors. The results of the service indicate that the design modification of the cooking oil strainer is capable of being a solution to the problems experienced by UMKM in Grogol Jombang Village. Thus, the design modification of this tool contributes to the improvement of quality, quantity, productivity, and competitiveness of UMKM in Grogol Village

Abstract

Carangrejo Village, a participant in the Desa Berseri (Sparkling Village) and Kampung Berseri Astra (Astra's Sparkling Village) programs, is active in waste management through its TPS3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Waste Management Site). A key obstacle in the composting process is the suboptimal performance of the screening machine, which causes slow drum rotation, noisy operation due to friction, and low production capacity (8-10 kg/day). Community Service to modify and optimize the organic waste screening machine to improve process efficiency. The method used is design engineering through literature study and direct field observation. The research resulted in a modification design that involves adding a rail to the lip of the drum's input hole. This modification successfully reduced direct friction between the drum and the bearing, resulting in smoother and faster drum rotation. The implications of this optimization include increased production capacity, shorter operational time, reduced vibration and noise, and prevention of machine overheating. Thus, this modification can support Carangrejo Village's organic waste management program to become more efficient and sustainable.

Abstract

This research aims to evaluate the performance of composite materials made from woven cloth, fiberglass and banana fronds in making Remote Control Boat bodies. As the need for fast ships and performance efficiency increases, selecting light and tough materials becomes the main key in ship hull design. The research was carried out experimentally with a toughness testing method (impact test) using the ASTM D256 standard. The independent variables used include fiber type (woven cloth, fiberglass, and banana fronds), resin type (epoxy and polyester) with a 3×2×3 factorial design and three repetitions. It is hoped that this research can contribute to the development of alternative materials in the small-scale shipping industry and become a reference in the use of natural fibers as composite reinforcing materials.

Abstract

Sampah tanaman dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan inhibitor korosi. Pemanfaatan inhibitor korosi merupakan salah satu cara untuk mengendalikan korosi. Inhibitor berbahan senyawa organik menjadi pilihan yang lebih ramah lingkungan. Dalam penelitian ini, kaji teoritis dan eksperimen dilakukan pada ekstrak campuran daun belimbing wuluh dan daun jambu biji yang dimanfaatkan sebagai inhibitor korosi guna memproteksi baja AISI 1037 dalam larutan HCl 1 M. Penambahan inhibitor dibuat bervariasi mulai 200 ppm, 600 ppm dan 1000 ppm. Pengujian laju korosi dilakukan dengan metode kehilangan berat. Peningkatan konsentrasi inhibitor menyebabkan laju korosi menurun dan efisiensi inhibitornya meningkat .Pada konsentrasi 1000 ppm efisiensi inhibitor mencapai 64,03%. Adsorpsi inhibitor yang terjadi adalah adsorpsi secara fisika. Molekul-molekul inhibitor yang teradsorpsi, menutupi permukaan baja AISI 1037 dan melindunginya dari serangan korosi
