Abstract

The use of antibacterial is a solution to treat various infectious diseases. However, the mismatch of the dose given can lead to bacterial resistance to these antibacterial substances. So, it is necessary to renew or develop natural medicines to kill bacteria and prevent resistance. One type of plant that can be used as a natural antibacterial is aloe vera (Aloe vera L.) because it contains several active substances including saponins, flavonoids, tannins and polyphenols which are thought to have antibacterial activity. This study used an experimental method with a laboratory observation approach. the results showed that aloe vera extract (Aloe vera L.) in all concentration groups (20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, and 100%) had a significant difference. with a probability value (p) <0.05, which means that aloe vera extract is effective in inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. The conclusion here is Aloe vera extract ( Aloe Vera L) is effective in inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus aureus

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract: Acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) is a drug with several indications such as analgesic, antipyretic, and antithrombotic/antiplatelet. ASA is efficacious as antithrombotic at low doses and used for thrombosis therapy in stroke, antiphospholipid syndrome (APS), pre-eclampsia and eclampsia. However, the administration of ASA made pharmacokinetic interactions that cause a vitamin C deficiency condition. This study aims to determine the effect of low doses of Acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) on the histopathological appearance of fibroblasts on fetal membranes. This study used a cross-sectional design using 54 paraffin membrane blocks as samples processed into histopathological preparations. The case group received low-dose ASA and the control group did not receive low-dose ASA. Histopathological preparations were observed using a microscope to see images / count the number of fibroblast cells. The results showed that there were significant differences between the number of fibroblasts in the case group and the control group with p = 0.001 or p 0.05

Abstract

The renoprotective effect in chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients can be induced by antihypertensive therapy, which provides a vasodilatory effect on the blood vessels leading to the kidneys. This resulting renoprotective function is considered to slow the decrease in kidney function in CKD patients. The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of antihypertensive therapy as renoprotective agents through the analysis of kidney function parameters in CKD patients. A descriptive design with a cross-sectional method was used, and the study sample used data from patient medical records, specifically focusing on kidney function parameters of CKD patients during the January-June 2023 treatment period at RSUD Sultan Abdul Aziz Syah Peureulak. Of the 134 respondents, there were two groups of patients receiving antihypertensive therapy: ACE-Inhibitors (ACEIs) and (angiotensin receptor blockers) ARBs. After conducting the Wilcoxon test, there were significant changes in kidney function parameters (Urea, creatinine, and eGFR) between before and after antihypertensive therapy, with a p value <0.05. In the ACEI group, the mean urea level was 72.4 ± 48.3 mg/dL, creatinine 4.8 ± 4.3 mg/dL, and eGFR 30.6 ± 30.8 mL/min. In the ARB group, mean urea was were 85.2 ± 48.7 mg/dL, creatinine 6.1 ± 4.2 mg/dL, and eGFR 21.6 ± 26.7 mL/min. These findings indicate that ACEI and ARB antihypertensive therapies are effective as renoprotective agents in CKD patients.
