Abstract

Breast milk dams occur on the 2nd – 10th day after giving birth, which is characterized by redness, heat, pain, swelling and increased body temperature, which is a sign of inflammation. Leukocytes are white blood cells produced by hemopoietic tissue in the body’s defense system against infection. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of administering jasmine leaf compresses on the number of leukocytes in breastfeeding mothers with breast milk. This type of research uses Quasy Experimental with pretest and posttest design with control group. This research was divided into two groups, namely the group that was given jasmine leaf compress treatment with 15 respondents and the breast milk control group with 15 respondents. The instrument used for blood leukocyte counts uses the Hematology Analyzer Method using the BC-3000 Plus (Automatic Analyzer) and Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) and SPES (Six Point Engorgement Scale). The results of the study showed that there was a significant effect between the pain intervention group given jasmine leaf compresses on the number of blood leukocytes in breast milk dams with a p value = 0.001. Mothers who experience breast milk dams are given a jasmine leaf compress by placing jasmine leaves on the swollen breasts for 1-2 hours or until the leaves wilt. The conclusion of this study is that there is an effect of jasmine leaf compresses on reducing the number of blood leukocytes in the group of breast pain and swelling with breast milk dams. Keywords: Jasmine leaf compress, breast milk dam, leukocyte count

Abstract

Early mobilization is very useful in the wound healing process, mobilization is needed to increase self-reliance to improve health, slow down the disease process, especially degenerative diseases and for actualization. This study aims to determine the early mobilization of mothers postoperative Sectio Caesarea. The research method uses a systematic review. Selection of articles through the Google Scholar database, EBSCO, Proquest, Oxford with journal criteria related to early mobilization of mothers after Sectio Caesarea surgery, which have been published, journals published from 2015 to 2020. The results of a study of 10 journals showed that Sectio Caesarea wound healing was affected by early mobilization. Early mobilization carried out in post-Sectio Caesarea mothers can speed up the wound healing process of Sectio Caesarea surgery. Early mobilization starts from light exercise in bed until being able to get out of bed, walk to the bathroom and walk out of the room. Early mobilization is very beneficial in the wound healing process, one of which is preventing the potential for thrombosis and thromboembolism, the potential for decreased functional ability, infection and so on.

Abstract

Antenatal Care (ANC) is an essential pregnancy examination to monitor maternal and fetal health. One of the common problems among pregnant women is inadequate knowledge and attitudes toward pregnancy and health services, which may lead to low ANC attendance. Therefore, intensive health education is needed to improve pregnant women’s knowledge and attitudes regarding the importance of routine antenatal examinations. This study aimed to determine the effect of health education on pregnant women’s knowledge and attitudes toward integrated ANC services at Citra Clinic, Palembang. This quantitative study employed a pre-experimental design using a one-group pretest–posttest approach. The population consisted of all pregnant women who attended integrated ANC services at Citra Clinic, Palembang, from August to December 2023. A total of 46 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed through bivariate testing. Normality testing showed that knowledge data were not normally distributed; therefore, the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test was used. Attitude data were normally distributed and analyzed using a paired t-test. The results revealed a significant improvement in pregnant women’s knowledge (Z = -3.970; p < 0.001) and attitudes (t = -3.402; p = 0.001) after receiving health education. In conclusion, health education significantly influences pregnant women’s knowledge and attitudes toward integrated ANC services. It is recommended that pregnant women actively participate in health education sessions to enhance their knowledge and develop more positive attitudes toward routine antenatal care.
