Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the markers of reimagination in fairy tales, especially through the characters. Reimagination is the process of recreating a story or re-imagining an old version of a story and wrapping it in a new perspective. Character reimagination is seen from the movie Once Upon a Crime (2023). The research data source from characters namely Cinderella (Shinderera), Little Red Riding Hood (Akazukin), Fairy Godmother (Witch Barbara and Witch Tekla), Step Sisters (Anne and Margot), Prince Charming (Prince Gilbert), and Gus Gus the Mouse (Porru). Researchers using methods from Spradley's approach, namely the qualitative descriptive method. This research using main theory from Purnomo, Adila, and Adzhani (2023) about reimagination markers; mutation markers and presentness as well as the reimagination function of both related namely stylistic function, ludic function, medial function, branding function, culture function are seen from this research. The results of this study found that reimagination markers, mutation markers and presentness in the change of iconic characters are dominated by stylistic and cultural functions, indicating that reimagination updates from in the movie Once Upon a Crime not only transformed traditional characters into more modern ones, through altered characterizations, classic stories can be kept alive in a modern cultural context.

Abstract

Structural Equation Modelling Analysis of Improving Teachers' Teaching Creativity: The Role of Professional Identity and Emotional Intelligence. Objective: The study aimed to examine a comprehensive structural model comprising three variables namely teaching creativity, emotional intelligence, and professional identity. Methods: The study involved 170 prospective teachers enrolled in teacher professional education programs in Indonesia by using a simple random sampling technique. Data were collected online using instruments adapted from previous research. The data were analysed by using covariance-based Structural Equation Modelling (CB-SEM) with the assistance of AMOS.  Findings: The findings revealed that the model confirmed a strong relationship among the three variables. Partial regression analysis reveals that emotional intelligence influences professional identity and teaching creativity, while professional identity influences teaching creativity. Nevertheless, the full model analysis revealed a contrary result that emotional intelligence could not directly enhance teaching creativity. Emotional intelligence must be accompanied by a strong professional identity to boost creativity in teaching effectively. These results suggest that professional identity functions as a full mediator in the relationship between emotional intelligence and teaching creativity. Conclusions: Efforts to enhance teaching creativity should focus not only on developing emotional intelligence but also on strengthening professional identity. This identity comprises several components, including cultural knowledge, blending, interpersonal skills, and active engagement in the professional community. Neglecting professional identity may hinder improvements in teaching creativity, even if emotional intelligence is high. Stakeholders should prioritise both aspects to cultivate creative educators. Keywords: teaching creativity, emotional intelligence, professional identity, SEM, teacher.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v14.i2.202498

Abstract

The International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL) is a global legal instrument that plays a central role in protecting the marine environment from the impacts of shipping operations. This article aims to analyze the effectiveness of MARPOL implementation both globally and in Indonesia, taking into account institutional, technological, and maritime economic dimensions. The study employs a qualitative descriptive approach supported by secondary data derived from official International Maritime Organization (IMO) documents, Tokyo Memorandum of Understanding (Tokyo MoU) annual reports, scholarly publications, and Indonesian government reports covering the period 2015–2025. The findings indicate that, at the global level, MARPOL has been effective in curbing marine pollution through strengthened monitoring systems, adoption of environmentally friendly shipping technologies, and incentive mechanisms for the maritime industry. Advanced economies such as Japan, the Republic of Korea, and several European states have achieved high levels of compliance owing to cross-sectoral policies and robust financial support. In contrast, MARPOL implementation in Indonesia remains constrained by weak law enforcement, inadequate port reception facilities, and the high costs associated with adopting low-emission technologies. Major obstacles include limited port infrastructure, insufficient crew training on ship waste management, and low environmental awareness within the shipping sector. To optimize MARPOL implementation, the study recommends strategies to strengthen institutional capacity, provide incentives for green technologies, and enhance international cooperation. With these measures, the effectiveness of MARPOL in reducing marine pollution in Indonesia is expected to improve substantially and sustainably.
