Abstract

Maize is one of the most important food commodities after rice and is widely cultivated because it has a high protein value. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the coating material on the growth and yield of maize under saline stress. This research was conducted in the Agroecotechnology greenhouse of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Trunojoyo Madura from August 2022 to January 2023. This study used a factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 10 treatment combinations and 3 replications with a factor of one coating material (P) and a factor of two salinity (K). The coating material factor consisted of 5 treatments namely control (P0), bentonite (P1), biochar (P2), light coal (P3), and biochar compost (P4), the saline stress factor consisted of 2 treatments namely control (K0) and saline (K1). The results showed that the application of coating material to saline stress had a significant effect on all growth parameters. The interaction between treatments only had a significant effect on plant height at 1 MST, leaf area at 6 MST, and 100 seed weight. Treatment (P2K1) with biochar and saline showed the best results on all growth and yield parameters of maize. Saline stress reduced the percentage of growth and yield of maize by about 50%.

Abstract

Pengolahan hasil perikanan di Kabupaten Bangkalan masih bersifat tradisional karena dilakukan berdasarkan kebiasaan secara turun-menurun. Umumnya produk yang dihasilkan terbatas pada ikan asin atau ikan asap, belum ada pengolahan dengan menerapkan diversifikasi produk perikanan. Dimsum ikan merupakan salah satu produk perikanan dari olahan daging ikan yang digiling halus dan dicampur dengan bahan pengikat, dengan menambahkan bahan dari sayuran untuk dapat melengkapi nilai gizi dimsum serta diberi bumbu dan dikukus kemudian dibentuk menggunakan kulit dimsum menjadi bentuk tertentu selanjutnya dilakukan pengukusan. Tujuan dari pengolahan hasil perikanan yaitu dapat memberikan nilai tambah pada produk perikanan yang dihasilkan oleh para pembudidaya di Kelurahan Kemayoran serta dapat membuka bisnis baru yang dapat meraup keuntungan lebih banyak. Metode yang digunakan meliputi diskusi dengan para santri, tanya jawab serta praktik pembuatan dimsum ikan lele. Hasil yang diperoleh dari kegiatan ini yakni para santri sangat memahami pentingnya mengkonusmsi ikan dan dapat memanfaatkan hasil perikanan yang melimpah untuk dapat diolah menjadi produk yang lebih beraneka ragam seperti dimsum ikan. Dimsum ikan secara umum dapat dibuat dari berbagai macam jenis ikan atau hasil perikanan dengan syarat dagingnya mudah didapat dan diambil.

Abstract

This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of chemical fertilizer coated with biochar on the growth of shallots (Allium ascalonicum L.) in sandy soil. The research was carried out at the Greenhouse of the Agroecotechnology Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Trunojoyo University of Madura, located in Telang Village, Kamal District, Bangkalan Regency, Madura, at an altitude of approximately 5 meters above sea level, from August to December 2023. A non-factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) was used, consisting of six treatments: P0 (control), P1 (recommended fertilizer), P2 (80% urea coated with rice husk biochar + bentonite), P3 (100% urea coated with rice husk biochar + bentonite), P4 (80% urea coated with corn cob biochar + bentonite), and P5 (100% urea coated with corn cob biochar + bentonite). The results showed that the application of biochar-coated urea fertilizer had no significant effect on plant growth and yield parameters such as plant height, number of leaves, number of tillers, number of tubers, tuber diameter, and root volume. However, plant height at 42 days after transplanting (DAT), the number of tillers at 42–63 DAT, and chlorophyll content showed significant differences among the treatments. Additionally, soil analysis parameters—including pH, organic carbon (C-organic), and soil nitrogen (N)—showed significant responses to the treatments.

Abstract

Bojonegoro Regency is one of the rice-producing areas but is prone to drought, as occurred in 2019-2020. Remote sensing is a solution for mitigation and adaptation to reduce the impact of drought. The study aimed to determine the spatial and temporal distribution of drought in Bojonegoro Regency in 2023. This study utilizes GEE, a cloud-based computing platform used to analyze land cover parameters, rainfall, LST, NDVI, NDWI, and NDDI. The results showed that rainfall in Bojonegoro varies, with the highest levels occurring in January-March and the lowest levels, marking the peak of the drought, in July-September. The LST category is very high and evenly distributed across the entire region from July to December. The average NDVI values obtained from July to December fall into the moderate category, but in some locations, they fall into the low vegetation category. NDWI classification falls into the moderate category from July to December. Meanwhile, the peak of drought (NDDI) occurs from July to December. This study is useful for supporting drought mitigation and adaptation strategies for farmers in Bojonegoro Regency based on spatial and temporal patterns.
