Abstract

Anemia in pregnant women is a health problem that can increase the risk of pregnancy and childbirth complications. This study aims to analyze the relationship between early marriage and nutritional status with the incidence of anemia in pregnant women at the Binanga Health Center. The study used a cross-sectional design with a sample of 58 pregnant women selected by purposive sampling. Data were collected through interviews, measuring the upper arm circumference (MUAC), and examining hemoglobin levels, then analyzed using the Chi-square test and logistic regression. The results of this study show that early marriage and the nutritional status of pregnant women are significantly related to the incidence of anemia. Women who marry at a young age and have poor nutritional status are at a higher risk of experiencing anemia. Therefore, it is necessary to improve education about early marriage and ensure optimal nutrition before and during pregnancy. Intervention programs focusing on nutritional screening and anemia in adolescent girls and prospective brides are crucial to reduce the incidence of anemia in pregnant women and improve the health of both mothers and babies.

Abstract

Reproductive and sexual health are crucial aspects of achieving a healthy, productive, and prosperous quality of life. However, many rural communities still have limited knowledge about reproductive health, putting them at risk of problems such as unwanted pregnancies, sexually transmitted infections, and a lack of awareness of the importance of maintaining reproductive health. This community service activity was conducted in Bunde Village with the aim of increasing public understanding, particularly among adolescents and couples of childbearing age, about reproductive health and sexuality through a midwifery education approach. The methods used were interactive lectures, group discussions, and the distribution of educational media in the form of leaflets. The results of the activity showed a 70% increase in participants' knowledge after the education, as well as a positive change in attitudes toward maintaining reproductive health. This activity also successfully encouraged community participation to be more open in discussing reproductive health issues, which have previously been considered taboo. Midwifery education has proven effective as a means of community empowerment in increasing awareness and concern for reproductive health and sexuality.

Abstract

The Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Handbook is an important medium in maternal and child health services, serving as a recording, education, and communication tool between health workers and mothers. However, the utilization of the MCH Handbook by mothers is still suboptimal. One factor influencing the utilization of the MCH Handbook is the mother's level of knowledge. This study aims to determine the relationship between maternal knowledge and the utilization of the MCH Handbook. The research method used was quantitative with an analytical design and a cross-sectional approach. The study sample consisted of mothers who owned the MCH Handbook and visited health care facilities. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using statistical tests. The results showed a significant relationship between maternal knowledge and utilization of the MCH Handbook (p < 0.05). The conclusion of this study is that the better the mother's knowledge, the more optimal the utilization of the MCH Handbook.

Abstract

Postoperative wound care is a crucial part of the healing process and infection prevention. Lack of knowledge among patients and families regarding proper wound care can increase the risk of surgical wound infections. This community service activity aims to improve the knowledge and skills of patients and families in performing postoperative wound care independently and correctly. The activity included counseling, interactive discussions, demonstrations, and hands-on practice. The results of the activity indicated an increase in participants' understanding of the principles of postoperative wound care and infection prevention. This activity is expected to increase patient independence in wound care and reduce the risk of postoperative infection.
