Abstract

Public libraries as information institutions that are obliged to meet the information needs of the community, have a central and representative role in efforts to increase public literacy, especially in terms of cultural literacy. The discourse on cultural literacy has received less attention from academics in the field of libraries and information. This article will discuss about strategies that can be carried out by public libraries in order to improve people's cultural literacy. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. This article is a literature study by utilizing various reference sources to obtain data and the author's thoughts as outlined in this article. The results show that there are three efforts that can be made by public libraries in order to improve the cultural literacy of the society, including providing special library services that contain local content collections, holding local cultural nuanced activities, and collaborating with other agencies in order to continue to improve the cultural literacy of the society.

Abstract

Tujuan dari tulisan ini adalah untuk memberikan wawasan bagi sebuah perpustakaan yang akan melakukan preservasi informasi digital mengenai strategi dan persiapan apa saja yang perlu dilakukan pada kegiatan preservasi informasi digital dan kaitannya dalam aksesibilitas informasi. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif dan pengambilan data dilakukan dengan telaah pustaka dan penelusuran informasi yang bersumber dari karya ilmiah yang telah dipublikasikan sebelumnya. Hasil dari penelitian ini diperoleh bahwa strategi preservasi digital yang dapat dilakukan diantaranya adalah strategi preservasi teknologi, penyegaran atau pembaruan, migrasi dan format ulang, emulasi, arkeologi digital, serta mengubah data digital menjadi analog. Selanjutnya kaitannya dalam aksesibilitas informasi, preservasi informasi digital ini perlu dilakukan karena erat dengan keutuhan dan keabsahan materi digital yang bertujuan agar dapat terus-menerus diakses dalam jangka waktu yang sangat lama. Kata Kunci: Strategi, Preservasi, Informasi Digital, Aksesibilitas

Abstract

Artikel ini membahas mengenai bagaimana upaya yang dilakukan TBM Pustaka Keliling Adil dalam pemberdayaan literasi dan ekonomi masyarakat khususnya di sekitar lingkungan TBM. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan secara deskriptif. Data diambil dengan menggunakan dua teknik pengambilan yaitu observasi dan wawancara. Hasil dari penelitian ini ditemukan bahwa kegiatan yang dilakukan oleh TBM Pustaka Keliling Adil dalam pemberdayaan literasi masyarakat adalah dengan kegiatan peminjaman dan pengembalian koleksi dan kegiatan baitul qira’ah. Selain untuk memberdayakan literasi, TBM juga melakukan pemberdayaan terkait peningkatan ekonomi masyarakat dengan kegiatan usaha yang dibentuk, diantaranya Adil Snack dan Nasi Box, Koperasi Literasi, dan Adil Agency. Kata Kunci: TBM, Taman Bacaan Masyarakat, Literasi dan Ekonomi

Abstract

Background: Community-based libraries rely heavily on volunteers to sustain their programs and services. However, volunteer empowerment and organizational sustainability can be limited without structured knowledge sharing and management. Limbah Pustaka Library, a community library in Indonesia, has implemented various initiatives to optimize the contribution of its volunteers. Objective. This study explored the importance of knowledge management in empowering volunteers at Limbah Pustaka Library, Purbalingga. The research is motivated by the limited human resources in village libraries and the need for knowledge management strategies to enable volunteers to contribute sustainably to library services and community development.Research Methods. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed. Data were collected through interviews with volunteers and library staff, participant observation of library activities, and review of relevant documents. The data analysis followed a sequential data condensation, presentation, and concluding process.Data Analysis. In addition to descriptive analysis, data were analyzed thematically to identify evidence of each SECI stage and assess its impact on volunteer empowerment. The analysis focused on knowledge sharing and creation patterns corresponding to the SECI processes.Result. The results indicate that all four SECI stages manifested in the volunteer program. Socialization occurred through group discussions and collaborative activities among volunteers; externalization was achieved by documenting volunteers' tacit knowledge into guides and procedures; combination involved integrating various explicit information into shared resources; and Internalization took place through training and hands-on practice. Implementing the SECI model enhanced knowledge sharing and volunteer collaboration, improving service innovation and community engagement.Conclusion. In conclusion, SECI-based knowledge management effectively empowered the Library Wastevolunteers, as evidenced by increased collaboration and innovative service delivery. These findings support using structured knowledge management strategies in community library programs.
