Abstract

Students' Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS), as seen from their learning outcomes, still need to be more optimal. This study aimed to describe applying the HOTS-based Discovery Learning model to improve student learning outcomes in curved-side geometric shapes. This research is a type of classroom action research. The subjects in this study were 9F class students at one of the public schools in Semarang. Data collection techniques are through written tests, while descriptive analysis is used. This research was conducted in 2 cycles. In cycle I, the level of completeness of students reached 57.14%, and in cycle II, the completeness reached 82.85%. The difference in mastery learning outcomes is 25.71%. From these results, using HOTS-based discovery learning is likely to improve the completeness of student learning outcomes in mathematics subject matter of curved side shapes.

Abstract

Students' Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) in a public school in Semarang are still not optimal. According to Kurniasih (2020), one way to improve Higher Order Thinking Skills is by getting students used to practicing HOTS-based questions to develop students' higher-order thinking skills well. Therefore, this study aims to develop HOTS-based questions. This development uses the 4D steps developed by Thiagaraja, namely definition, design, development, and deployment. This research aims to develop a Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS)-based question instrument on curved side geometric shapes, so that it can support students' HOTS abilities. The results of the calculation of the agreement index given by the three experts obtained an average of 0.95. Therefore, the HOTS-based question instrument on curvilinear material is valid with a very high validity index

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan aktivitas dan hasil belajar matematika siswa. Jenis penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas yang dilaksanakan di salah satu SMA Negeri di Kota Semarang pada semester genap tahun pelajaran 2022/2023 melalui model discovery learning berbantuan liveworksheet. Penelitian tindakan kelas ini dilakukan dengan dua siklus. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas XI MIPA 7 di salah satu SMA Negeri di Kota Semarang. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah perangkat pembelajaran,lembar evaluasi dan lembar pengamatan. Teknik pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini yaitu dengan observasi berupa lembar pengamatan yang dilakukan selama proses pembelajaran dan tes berupa soal isian yang diberikan kepada siswa pada akhir setiap siklus untuk mengetahui hasil belajar siswa. Pada penelitian ini menggunakan Teknik Analisis Deskriptif Kuantitatif. Berdasarkan analisis data diperoleh hasil bahwa dengan menggunakan model discovery learning terjadi peningkatan pada hasil belajar siswa dan aktivitas siswa. Pada aktivitas visual diperoleh peningkatan sebesar 11%. Pada aktivitas oral diperoleh peningkatan sebesar 12%. Pada aktivitas mendengarkan sama seperti aktivitas visual yakni diperoleh sebesar 11%. Pada aktivits menulis terjadi peningkatan aktivitas sebesar 13,5%. Pada aktivitas emosional diperoleh hasil peningkatan sebesar 10,5%. Sedangkan untuk hasil belajar yang diperoleh siswa juga mengalami peningkatan dari siklus 1 ke siklus 2 yakni sebesar 13%.
