Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyze Muhammad Mutawally as-Sya'rawy and Hamka's interpretation of ethics and manners in the family based on the QS. An-Nur [24]: 58 in their tafsir book and the similarities and differences in the interpretations of the two figures in interpreting the QS. An-Nur [24]: 58. This type of research is qualitative or library research by collecting various related literature and then analyzing it using the muqaran interpretation method with a descriptive-analysis approach. The data sources in this research consist of primary sources, namely the interpretation of the QS. An-Nur [24]: 58 in tafsir as-Sya'rawy and tafsir al-Azhar. Meanwhile, secondary data sources are books, scriptures, articles, journals and other scientific research related to the theme discussed. From this research, it was found that there are several similarities and differences in interpretation between as-Sya'rawy and Hamka in interpreting the QS. An-Nur [24]:58 in their two tafsir books. Even though they are both modern tafsir and use the same method and style of interpretation, namely tafsir bi ar-ra'yi and adabi ijtima'i style, these two tafsir books still have significant differences. Differences in interpretation are found more often than similarities in interpretation. Similarities in interpretation are only found in matters of a principal or legal and basic ethical nature such as the main meaning of the verse, the laws contained in the verse and the three time limits for intimate parts that already exist in the text of the verse. Meanwhile, the differences occur due to the different social and social contexts between the two authors, because this interpretation uses the adabi ijtima'i style which makes the interpretation of the Qur'an a tool to improve the social conditions of society, the existing interpretations are also adapted to the social context of the local community. respectively, namely Egypt and Indonesia. Among the ethics and manners in QS. An-Nur [24]:58 in the tafsir as-Sya'rawy and tafsir al-Azhar, namely, first, asking for permission. Second, maintain the honor of family members. Third, respect the privacy of family members at home. Fourth, know the times when you are allowed and not allowed to visit. Fifth, maintain the stability of the physical, spiritual and psychological aspects of family members.

Abstract

The large number of Indonesian people who do not practice the second principle, namely just and civilized humanity, makes this Pancasila useless. In fact, this second principle is also mentioned in surah an-nisa verse 58 and this verse has been confirmed by modern interpretations, one of which is the Al-Misbah interpretation. This research also compares Quraish Shihab's thoughts in his interpretation of Al-Misbah with Buya Hamka in his interpretation of Al-Azhar

Abstract

In the Qur'an there are verses about mercy and disaster, one of which is in QS. Al-Ahzab verse 17. But these two words, namely mercy and disaster, many people still misunderstand the meaning of them. For example, when someone has an amputated hand. Hand amputation is bad, but behind it all there is good for him. If the community lacks understanding, then the community always thinks badly of what has happened, it is things like this that make the writer raise the theme of Grace and Disaster. Hamka with his Tafsir Al-Azhar is used as the primary reference. Based on this description, a problem formulation is taken, namely how is Hamka's interpretation of mercy and disaster in surah Al-Ahzab verse 17 in Tafsir al-Azhar?, and what is the relationship between mercy and disaster in improving the quality of life in this world and the hereafter. This research is a library research. According to Hamka, the results of the research obtained from research on mercy and disaster in the Qur'an, according to Hamka, are Rahmat according to buya Hamka in Tafsir Al-Azhar is a form of God's love for His servants that radiates to charity and deeds until one day he dies with husnul khatimah . Meanwhile, according to buya Hamka, disasters are divided into two, namely small disasters such as illness and major disasters that occur in the universe such as earthquakes, floods and volcanic eruptions. Buya Hamka also believes that the occurrence of disasters is caused by several factors, as mentioned in the Qur'an, namely the factor of human disbelief, the factor of human hypocrisy, and the factor of human disobedience.

Abstract

Forgiveness is a fundamental moral trait that plays a vital role in shaping harmonious human relationships, fostering peace, and preventing conflict. However, in the context of student life, social interactions are often challenged by misunderstandings and disputes, making forgiveness an essential value to explore. This study aims to examine the concept of forgiveness as reflected in the hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad, its practical application in the social interactions of students at UIN North Sumatra, and the influence of mutual forgiveness on the harmony of the campus social environment. Employing a qualitative descriptive method, data were collected through interviews, documentation, and in-depth analysis. The findings reveal that the practice of forgiveness significantly contributes to the quality of students’ relationships, providing emotional relief, minimizing disputes that may otherwise damage friendships, and fostering a more positive mindset. Moreover, the internalization of forgiveness values strengthens social cohesion and nurtures a peaceful and collaborative academic atmosphere. The study concludes that forgiveness, as derived from prophetic traditions, has been meaningfully integrated into student life at UIN North Sumatra, thereby enhancing interpersonal harmony and supporting the creation of a conducive educational environment. This research contributes to understanding how Islamic ethical values can be practically implemented in modern academic contexts.
