Abstract Reception of the texts of the Qur'an and Hadith in society has developed following the locus and tempus that accompany it. The tradition of reciting sura al-Sajdah with prostration of recitations in Friday morning prayers at the Gedhe Kauman Mosque in Yogyakarta, which was inspired by the hadith of the Prophet, is not completely the same as the traditions written in the texts and traditions that are now carried out in the Arabian Peninsula. Instead, they experience adjustments to the socio-historical existing in society. In this study, the researcher uses reception theory which has a focal point in the form of functional reception to find out the reception of agents and objects who receive tradition in interpreting this tradition. Keywords: Sujud recitations, al-Sajdah, Gedhe Mosque, Living Hadith.
