Abstract

This study explores the implementation of Optical Line Terminal (OLT) technology by Internet Service Providers (ISPs) startups in underserved and remote areas of Indonesia, examining its effectiveness, challenges, and opportunities. The research reveals that OLT technology can significantly improve internet service quality, with measurable increases in speed (up to 30%) and reliability (20% improvement), especially in rural areas. However, ISP startups face several technical challenges, including inadequate fiber optic infrastructure, high initial investment costs, and the complex geographical conditions across Indonesia’s diverse islands. Regulatory barriers, such as lengthy licensing processes and inconsistent policies, further hinder the deployment of OLT technology. Despite these challenges, the study identifies key opportunities for ISP startups to overcome these obstacles. Collaboration with government initiatives like the Palapa Ring and the potential integration with 5G and IoT technologies can reduce costs and accelerate network deployment. Additionally, leveraging existing infrastructure enables faster expansion of broadband services, particularly in remote regions. The research also finds that ISP startups adopting OLT technology can significantly narrow the digital divide by expanding service coverage in underserved areas, with a noted 25% increase in digital inclusion. These findings offer valuable insights for policymakers and business leaders, informing strategies to optimize OLT technology and foster a more equitable digital transformation across Indonesia, particularly in expanding access to broadband internet in marginalized regions.

Abstract

Waste management in Indonesia faces significant challenges with an increasing volume reaching approximately 175,000 tons per day. Public awareness of the dangers associated with improper waste disposal remains low, as many continue to litter indiscriminately. Waste sorting is the most effective method, involving separation based on waste types. Manual waste sorting is nonetheless inefficient, as it requires large spaces, substantial labor, and is prone to errors. This study aims to develop a waste classification model based on Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) with hyperparameter tuning optimization for the MobileNet architecture. The research adopts the Cross-Industry Standard Process for Data Mining (CRISP-DM) methodology and utilizes datasets from three waste categories organic, inorganic, and hazardous and toxic materials (B3) sourced from open Kaggle datasets. Model training was conducted using the MobileNet architecture with hyperparameter tuning optimization and resulting in optimal parameters Adam optimizer, learning rate of 0.01, batch size of 32, and 256 neurons. The results show that the model achieved 96% accuracy before optimization which increased by 2% to 98% after optimization. The model demonstrated high computational efficiency with the number of floating-point operations per second reaching 1.146 GFLOPS.

Abstract

Piranti Teknik Indonesia is engaged in manufacturing which produces wiring harnesses for motorcycles and others. This company is one of the companies that joined the Banshu Group or known as Banshu Electric Indonesia. PT. Piranti Teknik Indonesia is one that uses a computerized but simple payroll system, but in the salary complaint system it is still done manually, so the data processing is experiencing obstacles. If this problem is allowed to continue it will result in the work system being less effective. So we need a system that is able to provide convenience in managing salary data efficiently. For this reason, the author will design an android-based information system that will facilitate the process of complaining about salary data by using a computerized system and data base as storage media, so that data will not be lost or damaged. With the construction of an Information System, the payroll process will no longer be hampered, because this system is designed to build a work system that is more effective, fast and accurate. If this research is successful, it will produce a system that is able to help provide convenience for both parties, so that it can be expected that later it will simplify and speed up the service process, data storage and, as well as the restatement of the data.

Abstract

Iron deficiency anemia is a significant global public health concern that disproportionately affects young children and pregnant women. One effective method for monitoring medication in pregnant women is through mobile applications. This study aims to investigatepregnant women’s experience with iron supplementation adherence management using amobile application. A qualitative study with a phenomenology approach was conductedamong 20 pregnant women and midwives. The qualitative method was used to explore participants’ experience using a maternal application called “MySmart Bumil” to improvepregnant women’s adherence to iron supplements. The study identified four themes: the factors of non-compliance, the motivation for taking iron supplements, and the benefits andthe weaknesses of using the application. Mobile app reminders can help pregnant womencheck medication frequency, remind them to take iron tablets, and build more consistentmedication habits. However, some pregnant women found that the reminder was ineffective. Pregnant women thought that the notifications should have alarms to be more effective. The mobile application has the potential to assist health providers in effectively monitoring the health state of pregnancy and improving adherence to iron supplementation

Abstract

The educational literature has devoted considerable focus to the pedagogical utility of rubrics in encouraging student learning and facilitating instructor feedback on student performance. However, there is little study on students' usage of self-assessment criteria in a context including a second or foreign language, and even less research has looked into the variables that affect the usefulness of the assessment criteria. The study aimed to investigate (1) how students perceive the rubric's function in evaluating their writing skills.; (2) according to the students, what factors affected the rubric's effectiveness for self-evaluation in the writing class? Forty students of the tenth grade of SMK Kesatrian Purwokerto got involved in this study. The researchers employed a self-assessment rubric and students’ reflective journals to collect the data. The findings of this study were that by helping students to set goals, make plans, keep an eye on themselves, and do reflection, rubrics were beneficial in fostering students' self-learning in writing skills. Rubric factors and users impacted the efficiency of the rubric for learner self-evaluation.
